It won't last long don't worry Jonsey. I am sure Holden will respond and cause Ford Australia to close it's doors

Not for the next 2 years at least Col.
I think you'll find the general will have a hard time ruling the roost now Ford has the taste of success once again. I 've just reread the 4nil whitewash between the BA and the VY again before I get it framed for the office wall.

Seriously though Bondy, they have already responded with the 7litre Monaro. Brilliant idea by the GM boys. And I still think Holden's decision to not promote the commodore to the taxi industry a pure stroke of genius. We have all ridden around in taxis badly in need of repair with various moans , groans, whines and squeaks. Not a great picture for a future customer is it.

Alan my friend, I was talking to a Holden Engineer last week. Just wait for 18 months until the new car and the Quad Cam, 4 valve per cylinder V6 comes out, Then the V6 twin turbo version. Ah and the new genIV 350 Quad Cam 4 valve V8.

When I was Assistante Service Manager at the worlds worst Holden dealer Holden did have a tow in water go at getting the cab market. The weak link in it was the V6 engine.

I had a look at the BA at the Ford stand at Bathurst and I was very, very impressed by the XR6 turbo, what a fabulous car, well equipped, roomy, modern, awesome output and fantastic value for money, what else comes close? The dash looks very European to me. I really like the mid blue metallic, but I think it's going to be one of those colours that everyone buys in the first year. Remember, Everglades, Aqua Marine, Tiger or Hyper?

I haven't had a good look at the VY, but I'm very disappointed by the styling, a Vectra nose and a Magna tail. The SS also looks rather overdone, like the VX HSVs.

Gee Jonsey I would be so impressed too with experts like the NRMA voting it the car of the year.... NOT. If anything will put the curse of the black jelly bean on the Ba then that is it

I'm wondering about the model designations, XR, then XT. Waht's next? XW and XY? I hope not, these are icons and dare not be tainted.

I finally went and had a good look at the local dealers today. He had a XR6 in Wild Violet in the showroom. And I was sold on the colour alone. I once had a XW Fairmont in this colour.

After having a look I wondered how much debt I could talk my wife into.

We had a BA at work but one of our brilliant sales staff sailed through a stop sign and low and behold wrote it off. I will say this though it crumples well

OMG! That was a short lived car. If the bokes on the assembly line saw it, they would probably wonder why they had even bothered.

Yes,

Is that the first one in the country (or any other country for that matter) that has died?
