jklein6419 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
yea, this could be the new michagan 500. except with fans. the texas 500 presented by ford. unlike the irl's texas 500, ours would be in miles. cart needs another 500, this is perfect. it would'nt compete with nascar racing there like they did at ims. you could even put the still shot camera angle coming off of turn 2 with flowers in front of the camera. just like the old 500 mild races. that's cart best chance with having another oval on the circuit

Well, guys, I _do_ have to wonder if Texans, well, give a carp about Champcars. Houston wasn't much of an event, the track is out in the middle of nowhere... Might they not be better off with a 500 miler at Pocono?

Pocono could be great for a 500. What do you think about Talledega? I know nothing about its ownership ar anything else except I've always liked the track and the racing its produced.

Did I just admit on a CART forum that I've seen a NASCAR race or two?

Fear it not, Flatspot... There is much we can learn from our simple country cousins. In terms of marketing, at least.

Tallageda's ISC property too.

Here's a simple list of the tracks CART's locked out of for political reasons:

Florida Mafia (International Speedway Corp) ownership
California Speedway (Fontana's contract was signed when Penske owned the track. It's now co-owned by ISC, and Penke's the enemy anyway)
Chicagoland Speedway
Darlington Raceway
Daytona International Speedway
Homestead-Miami Speedway
Kansas Speedway
Michigan International Speedway
Nazareth Speedway
North Carolina Speedway
Phoenix International Raceway
Richmond International Raceway
Talladega Superspeedway
Watkins Glen International

Speedway Motorsports Inc ownership
Lowes Motor Speedway (Charlotte)
Atlanta Motor Speedway
Bristol Motor Speedway
Texas Motor Speedway
Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Infineon Raceway (Sears Point)

If it's on this here list, CART ain't racin' thereabouts!

Can't help thinking that the ISC helping the IRL is their way of working a plan of getting their hands on IMS.

I didn't realize Phoenix and Nazareth were ISC tracks. Thanks for the list Lee. I've been wondering what tracks were ISC and SMI owned, but didn't get motivated to do the research.

Yeah, thanks Lee. I've been curious about Talledega. Although I can't say that I've ever watched a NASCAR race from start to finish, I know that the track is a monster. Those lists are pretty depressing, really. Pretty much the best oval tracks in the world. Imagine CART running Daytona over Memorial Day weekend!

Someone else posted the below in another forum. Since we all like a sh1tfight and it's on the topic and it sounds juicy, thought I'd share it.

All hell is breaking loose in Elkhart Lake right now. Hotels, restaurants, shops are all ****ed at the track manager. A major shareholder was at the track yester day and demanded a list of current shareholders so he could make contact with them before the March 20 annual meeting (this will be interesting indeed). How 'bout some facts boys? RA screwed CART 3 times before Chris said "enough". First with the date change. Then with a bogus $800K "administrative fee" against the '02 race, and finally with the jacking around on the '03 sanctioning fee. (Chris went back to the original contract after getting it in the butt twice). Stay tuned, this fight ain't over yet!!
