All things being equal, my trusty photographer and I will be at the test day in 2004. Last year we stayed at a nice B&B Hotel in Alencon that was not at all expensive (split three ways for a 4 person room). Likely we will stay there again. I don't think we'll have to make a power run from Brands Hatch in 2004 so we may have more time to actually see some friends this time.

You'll find a large choice of Le Mans hotels here... not an ad, just a site which gathers a lot of facilities... it's in french, sorry, I'll look for other sites if possible...
Got it ! This one is in english ! Last edited by Fab; 5 Sep 2003 at 05:31. |

Right, I'm trying to get some details together so that I can plan a trip for the big race next year and need to get some details so that I can do some ringing around!
Basically need to find out about coach trips, ferry arrangements and ticket prices (I understand students get in half price on the gate.....). This is my shot at getting there next year so much help would be appreciated! |

I always buy my tickets from Just Tickets. More expensive than on the door but I never have the panic waiting for tickets to arrive that seems commonplace from the ACO. In 20 years of going they have never let me down.

Yep, someone I know who went a couple of years ago said students and under 16's get in half price but you can only pay on the gate.
And as we're all students it makes sense though I need to confirm it, dunno who to call though and my French isn't exactly fluent! |

BTW I forgot to mention in my original post that I'm not just trying to organise a trip for me but a largeish (hopefully) group of students for the Uni Motorsport club.
This is gonna be fun! |

Good luck to you. You want beleive the hassle you get from people saying they will go then coming up with some excuse as to why they cant make it. This leads to a lot on messing around with tickets and ferry bookings. Just make sure everyone is committed when you make the bookings. Also if you want good grandstand seats and camping tickets then you should be booking now.

We stayed the friday night in the IBIS by the river in the centre with a lot of the race support teams last year, but it was a bit too far from the track for easy access. In the end i just pitched up a tent in true Le Mans style and stayed up as long as possible on teh Saturday night.
It was the first year I took my car down, so drove down on Friday and then back on Sunday night to go to work on the Monday morning. The hotel for the shower facilities alone was a great luxuary and certainly made the weekend (if not so traditional) more confortable. Have you made arrangements for '04 yet Ayse? |

I'm surprised that there could be a special price for students, but I e-mailed to ACO today to have a positive answer... we'll see... anyway, there's a special offer for ACO members, and I'm sure we could arrange something with your main entrance ticket : don't expect a too cheap one though (10% under or around...). |

You realise that "staying up as long as possible" should mean all night? Quote:
Fortunately, our Chief Tourist makes all the arrangements for us. I just have to book the leave and brings lots of Euros...... |

Next year I really want to go for a bit longer than the 3 night Page and Moy trip. The journey down is so long that I just haven't got the stamina to stay up all night which is a real pity. Plus of course you miss all the practice sessions and the Friday walkabout.
So the question is, do I try and organise something now myself, (probably travelling alone - lots of hassle, more expensive, less fun) or gamble on people dropping out in the weeks before the race and grabbing a place then. There seemed to be loads of last minute places being offered on the forum this year, all of which would have suited me fine. The risk is being left high and dry if nothing comes up. What do you reckon guys - any suggestions or pointers? |
