Granted, there's a big difference between Herbert's 165 Grand Prix starts and Pantano's 5 or 6.
Also, remember that Arie Jr. didn't participate in early may ROP and instead passed it in morning sessions on friday and saturday of the second weekend of quals. |

A victory against what? There was always going to be 33 at Indy, like there was always going to be 18 at Long Beach.

No offense luke, but there were a number of posts on these boards casting doubt as to whether there would be 33 for the grid for The 500.
It shows how much drawing power The 500 still has that it can draw almost double the entries for a CC race and approximately 1/3 more than the "normal" IRL grid. |

Yes, but Tony would have fielded 30 cars himself if he had needed too. Without 33 for the grid the series would look in bad shape.

No disagreement with your logic, luke, just pointing out what had been posted (not by yourself!).

Tony gets criticised for supplying 3 cars out of 33. The Three Amigos are rarely criticised for providing 6 cars out of 18.

well, if you believe everything Robin Miller says (which nobody does), TG is providing funding to 11 cars.

It probably isn't snips, TG has been founding many cars for as long as the IRL has been around and not just for the 500.

Please! Let's not go down that road! [I]both[I] series' have done this (funding teams). The 500 is what is important at least in the context of this thread!

So anyway there are a fair few number of TBAs, and are a few TBA-Ts listed on the entry list so we could get a well shaped up grid. Here's hoping. What's the latest possible moment that you could be eligble for the race? Bump day? |

yep, any car that has had an entry filed can qualify at any time on bump day as long as its driver is eligible to do so (passed all tests or had them waived).
One year Billy Boat switched teams w/ less than 2 hrs left in qualifying. |

I think it's a great looking car, even if it can't be expected to be the fastest car on the grid.

The Indystar.com reports today that Davey Hamilton hopes to land a ride for the Indy 500 driving a fourth car from Vision Racing, should TG opt to run it. Hamilton was talking to Cheever earlier about the second car before that eventually went to Max Papis.

I'm not sure if Vision will run the 4th car....
and IIRC, they also said that Moreno would be considered if they ran the other car.... I still think AJ will stick someone in his 3rd car if the slowest car in the field has a 4-lap average that he thinks he can beat. |

No you did have it right, Arie Jr. did his entire Rookie orientation during Thursday and Friday of the second week last year.
