Setting up an area on my web site for the new year to celebrate 25th anniversary of 1st Thundersaloon race. I'll post when something is up.

Iv'e just been watching some Thunder saloon action from Aug 1993 at Mallory park, awesome stuff.
I am definitely going to try and come over for the Brands race, I'm pretty sure I have somewhere to store the car and may even coax a friend out with an XB Cosworth V8 powered Peugeot 407. He fancies having a go.

Cant wait.

I wondered where the "XRV8" went.

Got the oil pump belt for Harry at the end of last week, and subject to getting some space in the workshop, I hope to get that on and checked out, together with sealing up the rear main. Ready for some testing in March I reckon.

Vjay get the youtube file running then click on the navigation box at the top of the browser highlighting it. Then while still highlighted hold down Ctrl and C at the same time this will copy the address to your puter clipboard. Then come back here and make your post and press Ctrl and V simultanuously and the address will be pasted in your post where we can click on it to get taken to the clip. Simple as that!

One of my videos, think thats the last of the Thundersaloon races I had on vhs.
Was a great meeting although I seem to remember the local mayor trying to stop it as the people in the new housing estate built right next to the track took exception to the noise of the Thundersaloons !!!!

Thats exactly what I was doing Gordon but using short cut keys. You have to allow for the fact that a lot of people are simply not yet computer savvy and if I said just cut and paste would wonder what the hell we were banging on about!

We where warned by brscc that could be noise problems, cars where tested most of us made temp. solutions,we put an extra silencer on the end of the exhaust, stuck out about a foot from the side of the car!!!,think wire wool, coke cans and all sorts of dross was jammed up pipes. I think this was the last meeting on the full circuit, which was of course an iconic grand prix venue

Yes it would have been around then, I went with some guys I was hot rod racing aginst at the time. I remember about two solid hours were wasted by Renault lining up hundreds of the new Feugo nose to tail around the track, I immediately hated the cars ever since.

If you go into flickr there are some cracking pics if you search for tag "thundersaloons"

http://www.flickr.com/search/?mt=all...rsaloon&m=text

Only problem is most are not allowed to be hot linked (shame - why put pics on the internet if you don't want to share them)

Anyway just a few that I could hot link

Andy are you saying the orange Starlet is the ex Robert Bridger car ? He must have had so many Starlets. This used to run a Cosworth.

Damn you sold it. Never .....
That sounds right. I knew he raced the blue/white one (your old one) then there was the red/white/yellow one with F1 sponsor, then finally the blue/yellow (but not a Thundersaloon) one at Lydden with the Vauxhall red top. He sold the car to Nathan Mills then it disappeared.

I think the top one might be the ex Julian Swayland carbuilt by Milton motors , Robert Bridger had this after him and then it went to John Muir at MV turbos in Scotland .I bought this car five years ago with a jag axle and a blown YB turbo in it and sold the shell to Lennie coad in Maidstone ,hes fitted a monster YB and a Sequential gearbox to it although ive not seen it race .

Re: ex Swayland car. 90% sure this car turned up at SEMSEC Brands Hatch meeting in September. Car failed scrutineering on something minor. Car looked brand new and great. Driver took it home but returned to race a Fiesta xR2. Maybe wrong as only saw car briefly, but it had the big YB engine.

teamwillpower should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Would anyone out there know how much slower brands hatch indy is since Graham Hill bend was tightened up? wasnt sure if there was anything else major done to the circuit? We recently got hold of an old Thundersaloon and having looked at the results, I'm interested to know what the times then equate to now (roughly of course)?? From what I can find the front runners were doing 47/48secs.
Thanks
