cliov6 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sorry about the cloak and dagger bit, but reveal all soon. The car in question is the 1988 Toyota Supra Touring Car driven by Hodgetts, Hales, Flux and Vic Lee. The car was used in Thunder Saloons by Simon Pearson and was last raced in 1995. The engine and gear box was sold sometime later.

Hmm. Unfortunately that car made very little impact in the BTCC, so don't think it'll have much of a value in that specification.
However, I'm not sure what monetary value there is in old Thundersaloons either...

Tim Wilkinson should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Both Supras appeared in Thundersaloons. I think the one mentioned here turned up soon after the BTCC effort, in the hands of the "Zoom" team (Colin Cordy and Trevor Panter?). It much have last appeared with them in 90 or 91; the team stopped before '92 as CaneCordy were running F2 cars by then. It might have passed on to Hugh Marshall and Simon Pearson then.

The other Supra won a round or two with Chris Hodgetts driving and a Cosworth turbo fitted.

I hope I haven't got them mixed up - my notes are incomplete as I didn't back up before my hard-drive crashed last year, and I haven't got round to re-researching the lost bits.

IMO it's worth more as a BTCC-spec car. It was a bit of a white elephant in Thundersaloons, it didn't achieve much more than it did in BTCC. I doubt it'll be worth what the Sierras are fetching, though, so best thing to do with it is whatever suits you!

(saying that, if it was me I'd put it back as close to BTCC spec as I could)

I think I have raced against that car and beat it in my old tub if so it wasnt that quick but I may have been thinking of something more production based, was that not also raced in ModProds by the Scottish brothers one who actually did a stint in BTCC but I dont think with this car, just remembered his name, Hamish Irvine. We have a Supra Turbo owned by dave Scriven out with us in CTCRC Pre-93's and the rules suit it very nicely and it is a nice match for my IROC-Z be nice to get the car out with us. It is actually my favourite car on the grid and looks awesome.

I hope that some Thundersaloons are selected to join the grid.

From the email I received back from the CSCC they will make their decision after the Race Retro show.

Hopefully they'll take a few reserves, as one or two cars probably won't make it.

I understand there could be other classes in other races aswell.

Anychance those Rolling Thunder CD's mentioned earlier in the thread are still available? Would love to read the history of the championship.

Well, there were several Thundersaloons as part of the show and, indeed, Pete Edwards & Pete Stevens in their Mk2 Escort & Ex Works Vauxhall Carlton resectively could probably be described as being the stars of the show.

Pete Edwards won race 1 in very tricky (wet) conditions whilst Pete Stevens harried Simon Allaway's Lotus Esprit all the way in race 2. Jos Ronchetti won race 3 in his Lotus Sunbeam.

Other Thundersaloons of note were the "Stars & Stripes" Manta of David Tetley and Piers Grange Ford XR8.

It was a fantastic day with an excellent crowd. Over 32 cars took part from the Special/ Super Saloons, to the Thunder Saloons to various Modsports cars.

The club are hoping to have a series of 4 x double headers next year, if interest in this sort of event can be maintained.

a bit late but I've just got through the thread,I've quite a few pit shots from the early 90s including shots of the Tyndal Escort after it had a coming together with a (I think) Sierra after leaving the pits, unfortunately I don't have a clue about putting pics on the forum,I could scan them and email them for someone else to do it

Have had a couple of enquiries about Rolling Thunder CD.

The extremely good value CD is still available and indeed one was posted 1st class in its clam shell case wrapped in a padded envelope to Sheffield this morning.
