So, like ALMS in 2009, at the height of the recession.
Wonderful! |

Doesn't matter how (not) fast they are, they're still not LMP2 cars, same as the Deltawing.

There has been some discussion about this, but because I am occasionally senile, I forget the details ... but I Believe FIA allows diesel P2s this year.

They're not allowed because 1) they don't want a BoP mess like LMP1 had for years and 2) if you want to have some fancy manufacturer development project run P1.
The entirely nonsensical thing here being that IMSA goes to ACO meetings to ask them to turn a privateer prototype class with the opposite values into DTM with stock blocks. |

Anyway, even putting the diesels aside, those old Lolas should be pretty much non legal for ACO racing now anyway |

Why would they be illegal? they are built to 2011 lmp2 rules which are still the present ruleset.

Until the Mazdas manage to consistently lap faster than GTD and finish a race, they're nothing more than field filling side shows not to be taken seriously. I don't have to be an engineer to see they aren't very good. |

Those cars are pulling less the 350hp probably, they could go 450hp but it wouldn't last.
A DP ironically could be better for cooling. At least I assume it would with a bigger engine bay that's bigger then a P2s, but then they would have to fine a way to get even more horse power from that tiny diesel. You know, the Delta wing car could be the best chassis because it doesn't have to produce that much HP but then torque would probably tear up the gearbox. |

Well ... I have been a SpeedSource fan since they ran R8s and a fan of Tristan Nunez since he was in Lites, and I have to be honest--with a great driver lineup and an experienced team, SpeedSource has barely been able to field a non-comical car since they switched to the diesel Mazda6.
Pointing that out doesn't make me a lout. And if a non-fan points that out, that shouldn't make him a target for scorn--again, being honest, wouldn't most of us have just a little scorn for a P2 which struggles to stay ahead of the GTDs? The one poster might be "attacking" a slow car, the other is attacking a poster. 'Nuff said? |
