Yes, Pratt & Miller do know their stuff!! It would be of great help to Markland if they can get some input from P&M.

I dont think that it is easy to get a good GT2 car out of the Corvette. Otherwise I cant understand why Pratt&Miller mostly changed everything in the C6R until the limits of the regulatons .... Steel chassis instead of Al, moved engine position, .....

The 908's body does, but certainly not the engine noise, at least on online videos.

gt1 regs are different. the c6.r was homologated with the c6 and not z6 z06. doesn't the dbr9 have its engine moved back?

where is the long-term future for gt1 anyways?

markland doesn't have the resources of p&m.

is the mader v-8 from t2m motorsport a mader design through and through and not a rebadged mecachrome engine?

what has mecachrome done with mader since the purchase in 2004?

There IS a future for GT1 - they just have to make the cars a bit cheaper to run - whether this is a combination of reducing the freedom in the current regs i don't know - after all moving engine location etc has to be expensive and maybe moving to something like a control ECU could cut costs.

Making GT2 the new GT1 is NOT the answer - while the cars are interesting to watch a 911 or 430, Panoz etc are not what the top category should be about - Supercars / Big GTs etc....

Also ALMS has a separate problem in that P&M race very succesfully and everybody else is too scared to race against them, Aston would but don't have the budget. If P&M ever pull out then i think you would see a bunch of privateer GT1 cars come out of the closet and race - they just see it as a waste of time against works cars unfort.

Might be an idea for P&M to pull out and support privateer teams with drivers and parts ..... im sure you would then see a surge in GT1 .

Lets face it , GT1 as it is , is very exciting ..... I agree that GT2 should not become the premier GT division and I for one would not like to see a GT2-GT3 format ..... not spectacular enough and a little too slow for a combination of LMP1 and LMP2 as well .

One can only hope !!!

But , if P&M decided to go GT2 and take on the mite of Ferrari and Porsche , that would be something too . Maybe leave GT1 to the privateer ?

New GT1 = Base GT2 + 550bhp/1050kg or 600bhp/1100kg, 14in tyres, carbon brakes.

You have to hope so, this would be a MASSIVE step forward, at no extra cost, seeing as teams will already have the system.

In fact I don't know why the ACO don't use more of their equipment etc. at LMS events.

Maybe DSC or someone could enquire over the weekend?

One would think that with requiring a large % of the LMS cars to modify body panels (not cheap to replace) to install the system for LeMans they would utilize it and require the rest of the cars to adopt it over the (to them) LeMans break!

six holes, a bit of fiddling and 3,000 Euros (there is always a cost of compliance).

well I don't know that exactly.
At this year's Retromobile in Paris Mader had a display of various engines, including a number of historic ones (MatraV12, RenaultTurboV6, BMW, and CosworthDFV) that are apparently dealt with under the Mader Classic Banner. There were also two Mecachrome engines on display, an older F1 V10 and a rather small looking V8. So there is definetely a link.

Well Project-LeMans seems to think so!
Quote:
,In addition, in this year the fans running already better to pursue to be able, „the Leader Light system “from the ALMS are for the first time introduced into into Le Mans and afterwards also into the Le Mans Series. Three strong light emitting diodes at the side of the vehicles signal the respective position in the class at the first three vehicles. With the class-prominent a light shines, with zweitplatzierten two and with third therefore three.
