Yeah its going to take more than that to put Toyota away. But I feel better about the potential of a non-Toyota Le Mans winner now. Whether it is Alpine, Glickenaus or the LMP2 winner.
Dang GTE is boring this year. I miss the Super Season so much because of that. GTE Pro was the feature class of the series in at Le Mans in 2018 and 2019. Feel off so quickly. Le Mans will be good with Corvette, Weathertech, and HubAuto coming in. Corvette C8 has disapointed in WEC so far. At Le Mans they will be contending though. I still pick Corvette to win LM24 this year. |

I like that this category has shown fragility. Makes it more interesting for this year and 2022 at least. Warning to the Hypercar teams....I bet LMDH cars are going to be bullet proof though just like DPI.

I'm mainly looking forward to the day when GT3 cars take over as the main GT category at LeMans

Can the Glickenhaus beat the LMP2 winner by the end of the race?

No, because there is LMP2 Class and there is United Class. They are again high above anybody else in LMP2. It is kind of uncool.

united is a rebellion-tier top private team, I wouldn't be surprised if they have also some former mclaren f1 personnel in their payroll. Have to be honest, portimao and spa have been better races, the only thing I'm sure so far is that none between toyota and glickenhaus looks really prepared and reliable for a 24H race unlike bulletproof alpine and oreca 07 top teams.

I expect, United will be among the first to step up into the top class. Maybe even with a works programme.

They're not a manufacturer, and I can't imagine that they want to do like Alpine and buy and old chassis. They could try to run a works team on behalf of a factory backed entry, but they don't have any history of that so it will be a tough one to enter. |

mclaren evaluating a sportscars program has become a meme of recent motorsport...
the sad truth is that mclaren can do only what the bahrain property allows them to do -> no money supplied for lmdh/lmh = no lmdh/lmh program. |

Thoughts on Monza:
I really enjoyed that race. Competitive racing throughout and plenty of drama. Barely a mention of the dreaded track limits either because THE TRACK HAS LIMITS. One of the things I enjoy doing as an endurance racing fan is watching quick cars recover back through the field after a setback. It's another storyline with an uncertain outcome. Looks like there could be a bit of that at Le Mans... All three hypercars are in the planned performance window. But Toyota and Glickenhaus still have new car niggles. For Le Mans they have strength in numbers. Alpine have good reliability from their well proven car, but only one bullet in the gun. Looking forward to seeing how that plays out. If you were a wealthy Am driver, in P2 or GTE, thinking about stepping up to hypercars, the Glickenhaus would be an interesting option. On the pace and mechanically straightforward - no hybrid and two wheel drive. It would be cool to see another one on the grid taking on the big boys. |

It'd be cool if SCG 007 became the privateer's weapon of choice in the coming years. Kind of like Lola used to be. It even looks a bit like the T70.
Good point. Expect at Parabolica, but that's somehow only a factor in F1. |

Certainly are.
In Q it looked like Toyota - Alpine - Glickenhaus. Although in the race there are hints that the Glickenhaus seemed to be closer across a stint (difficult to be sure). Edit: Alpine’s relatively slower race pace was because they were lifting and coasting a lot. Last edited by Adam43; 21 Jul 2021 at 02:41. |

I feel that the various trials and tribulations with the new Hypercars, combined with the fuel tank issue, decides Alpine's LM strategy for them.
Lift and coast, take few risks in traffic, wait for the race to come to you. Especially with just one car. |

Makes perfect sense. A John Wyer inspired run. Drivers race to a laptime, don't pay heed to what the others are doing and wait and see....
