Not a a big surprise to have cars dropping off from the entry list right after Le Mans, I knew it would happen... it was the sole reason some of these privateer teams signed up for the championship in the first place
Hopefully the recent BoP breaks won't give Felbermayr too much advantage over AFC and Luxury. |

Yes he has. We still don't know in what kind of car, but he had a crash in either a test or a track day at a race track somewhere in China.

not sure if it is DPR, part of me thinks that their deal is with Mike Wainwright and the Gulf Racing UK operation since the split. Maybe they are doing both teams though.

And how are they doing ?
Wish they would put him in charge of the P2 cars , as they seem to be way over the head of the currant team principle . |

Silverstone turned into debris fence city a long time ago, so usually I would say no to the question, of is it good for photos.
But, last year they actually opened up a lot of the stands, and you can get some good views over the debris fencing from a number of them, woodcote, club etc. There was a media hole on the outside of the new complex, but it all depends on the powers that be, sometimes you are allowed to stand in this area, other times not, and only 3 or 4 people can use it at a time. Entry to club, there was a few meters where you could shoot over the debris fence, but this might of changed. Not been to Silverstone since the ILMC last September. Otherwise if you have an SLR, and a 250mm plus focal length and open the aperture as wide as you can, there are some places you can get close enough to the debris fencing to blur it out. Sadly on Wellington straight they have joined two pieces of fence just at the height photographers need to shoot. As they have to man stands these days, they might only open some of them on Sunday, when there is a bigger crowd. Which is a pain for spectators who go on the Friday and Saturday. The height difference in the pits is common knowledge these days, so if you want photos it has to be club end of the pit lane from the stands opposite. So last year you could see Audi, but not Peugeot. Sadly with the new pit complex, you can't peer in the back of the garages like the good old days, when spectators were allowed in the outer paddock. |

vs Why are the Grandstands at the new Silverstone, not just here on the new pistraight but also other ones like at Village so far away from the circuit? I know there are FIA safety regs but the grandstands at other new circuits like Yas Marina are right close to the circuit, at Silverstone it seems you now need the hubble telescope to enjoy the action. |

For one of the FIA GT meetings (maybe 2009), they advertised a pit walkabout, only to find out when loads of people had queued up that it was "invitation only" or "VIP only". Luckily I spotted a garage that was letting regular punters in and you could just walk out into the pit lane.
