Now then Graham, is DSC sponsoring the Cup/GT3 class again this year?

Of course, time was that the "big" GT1 cars people are talking about were GT2 cars, GT2 cars were GT3 cars, and so on. I do miss that Blue Coral Porsche 911 GT1.

Yup. I remember Snetterton '98 meeting - first sportscar race I ever saw. Tiff Needell was guest driving a Newcastle United Lister GT1. Golden days indeed...

Which BMW's are going to be in the GT3 class? Please don't tell me they're gonna be poor little 320's. Glad to hear of Morgan and Marcos presence... are they guaranteed or just provisional?

The GT3 BMWs will be Z3Ms

Sadly DSC won't be title sponsoring the GT3 class in 2005 but we will be covering it in just as much depth as in 2003/4

One of the first sportscar races I ever saw was the British GTs at Croft in, what, 2000, maybe? Blue Coral Porsche, EMKA McLaren, Lister Storm... fantastic.

I think he did some GT races for Zwaans last year, didn't he? Or was it Roos the year before?

Drove with Roos in 2002 and 2003, then drove the Scandinavian Porsche Supercup Series in 2004. Sponsored by Roos

BSchneiderFan - your looking at '98 or '99 - By 2000 the series had switched to GT and GTO classes (see racingsportscars.com)... can anyone tell me what the "O" stood for in GTO?

Ferraris which bore the designation GTO (indeed, any Italian car) used it as an abbreviation for Gran Turismo Omologato (I think). Don't know if that's what the British GT Championship organisers were shooting for.

Agreed, though I think Eurotech might stand a small chance as well.

RacingRod should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Hi,

New to this forum,

We are racing in GT cup this season, our car has only just arrived from Australia so we may be pushed to get it ready for the Media/Test day on the 16th of march @ Silverstone, ah, it's a BMW Z3M Coupe, Ex Nurburg 2002 24hr, 2002 Bathurst 24hr, and 2003 Bathurst 24hr. Circa 375/395 bhp apparantly, weighs in @ 1160klgs, say 1250 with driver.

We have run a TVR Tuscan Challenge team since 1997, ran four cars in 2002. but now it's time to settle down to some quite racing

see:

www.hawthornsmotorsport.com

Just as a matter of interest, the Z3MCoupe owners club have over 50 road cars turning up to the first race at Donnington, and as BMW only made about 600 ish (so I'm told) of these cars in LHD, that's pretty impresive

Ah, someone from the old country and from the roots of "me family tree",for with Barrett as a surname,Waterford was where it all began.

In standard form the engine is a 3.2 "M" with 321bhp, the road cars weigh in at circa 1550 klgs, ours is suppose to be around 375/390 bhp and weighs in at 1150/60, it's going to be quick enough, and has plenty of scope to improve for we can allready see a fairly easy way to get rid of another 100/120klgs. Our policy will be to loose weight from the car, and keep the reliability that comes from not tinkering with the engine anymore

It's a crime that the ZM coupe shares a similar front end shape with the appauling Z3... the ZM is a great road car, even with it's strange shapes (but then again, nowadays strange shapes are the norm for BMW, like them or not).

I've not seen one racing before, so looking forward to seeing your cars at Donington for round 1

forgive me if you already mentioned this but I forgot cos it's on the previous page (i cudn't be bothered to go back a page lol), but how many cars are you entering? Yet again British GT giving us a nice large variety of interesting cars, despite no GT1's!

:
I have seen Z3Ms at Spa 24 hours - how does this spec compare with those?

Excelsior ran one in 2002 and JMT in 2003 - both these entries ran right at the back of the field, but I have no idea about engine / weight
