New tires for the #2 Audi.
I wonder if Acura will be thinking about the level they will need to get too after the second session later today? Last edited by td2001; 16 Mar 2009 at 17:14. Reason: clarifacation of point |

Who is running the #95 f430 and where did they come from? I'm thinking they are from Europe and only plan on racing sebring and not the full series correct? The car looks great as does the mostly black c6r. Im glad the r15 is so fast right out of the box, Im hoping they win, but I hope it is a fierce battle to the end.

And wasn't it a 10% diesel restrictor cut, that could hurt at Le Mans. |

The top speeds at Sebring are quite a-bit lower than Le Mans. The Last turn before the straight at Sebring is much sharper than Tetre Rouge is now and the length is considerably less.
A year or two ago, Marshall Pruitt from the Speed Channel website spent the week with another journalist and a Radar Gun. They put the Audi at the top speed of ....about...175 or 179mph(sorry going from memory). After the diesels, the next cars were the Intersport P1 Lola and the Porsche Spyder Evos at just under 165mph. Slowest of the main runners was the Andretti Green P2 Acura car, but they also had the highest apex speeds, more than 10mph faster than the Audi. This was the day the Acura was said to have entered T1 at full speed with no lift of the throttle. Clearly they were carrying much more wing & a stiffer suspension than the other competitors. So while Audi 'appears' to have met the Peugeot challenge, we won't fully know that til we see the cars really stretch thier legs at Le Mans. There the closed canopy may be the difference. |

Someone's going to have to remind me, but what's the deal with bonus points this year? Am I correct in understanding that the pole winning driver gets some points? Does the pole winning team get them as well?

Transponders don't seem to be working correctly in a few cars at the moment.

There are no bonus points for pole. It was going to be used at first but imsa thought. Everyone would risk there cars and crash trying to set the fastest lap. Then they would have to spend money repairing the cars. But imsa doesn't want that added costs.

The ALMS new webpage was launched a little too close to race time for the amount of non-working links!
Any word on times from the afternoon session so far? Live Timing is doing some "testing" as well today... Oh well, I guess if they work the kinks out by race day it's not too bad. Edit: it was the imsa timing that is testing, the alms seems to work. |

Some links are activated only if you register on the site, which took me 20 seconds

Top speed today was 177.2mph by the 908, Audi next then Acura - all taken at the same point I took the times at last year. We are doing a full run down later this week but the first basic bits appear here - I'll keep you updated on here but the details will be here http://www.racecar-engineering.com/a...r-preview.html and at speedtv.com |

The fact that there's orange is really about all that I see directly in common with the old livery. Hopefully the livery is still a work in progress or something because it just seems unfinished to me.

Speaking of liveries, I love the way the Robertson Racing Ford looks with the red lightning bolt on it.

I presume they're going to add some sponsor decals to it to finish it off.
I'm surprised by the lack of pace on the Drayson Aston Martin, especially since they're now on the Michelins. |

I just watched the timing screen a bit. Audi drivers are doing multiple laps in 1:44. Impressive.
