Went up to combe this morning for a quick fix as testing was on and as usual lovely day but that flippen wind made it feel very cool for this time of the year even with me bike leathers on after an hour or so the cold got to my bones...it was warmer on the bike doing oops mph

The weekend is looking excellent with pretty good entry's in everything even the radicals, possibly less one as a radical had a sizable off at the exit of quarry this morning having a hard rear ender into the tyre wall oops!

I know as well where I'll be staying: at home.

Shouldn't have changed my mind (M25 + roadworks on a Sunday evening), but it is too late now. Duh!

Have lots of fun and I'll see you all at Brands.

it could just be oil pump failure on its own, they are not the strongest of pumps and the merest hint of oil surge can wreck the pump and cause it to break up, how do we know? AW64's escort a couple of years back i made some pretty radical changes to the front suspension on it, suddenly it was lapping miles quicker, and had some ol surge, the light flicked on briefly once or twice, third time it stayed on as the oil pump was in many bits, so i then welded extra baffles in the sump complete with swinging trap doors and zetec windage tray, it never surged again

Invest in an accusump while you are at it as well, Think Automotive, Real Steel and Merlin all stock them, get the electric fire auto one they are the bees nuts. I am at the Rock on Sunday around the banking on Turn 4 and I am glad I have the device fitted. Or of course you can drysump it in the DTRC regs.

I take it that DTRC reg's allow Slicks? if so that should make things very interesting as some of the combe based saloon championship regulars have entered and run on treaded road tyres but are still pretty quick and will have circuit knowlage so could we see a home based car win the race???

Our regs do allow slicks yes.

Could add something to the race, but I don't know if it will influence who wins, although I might be wrong. Will no doubt be a great couple of races anyway!!

Eric Falce should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
An old saying that I use when passing on my experiance to younsters in my employ or teaching,'If it aint broke, dont mend it'. Over winter I decided to put a new set of shells and big end bolts in the engine, which it didnt need. There are some peculiaritys with Mr Rolands engines, one being a very fine mesh filter inside the oil pick up pipe which will block if an excess of silicon gasket cement is used, enough said,I hang my head in shame.
Must say on stripping this engine the engineering that has gone into it is the finest I have ever seen with maybe the exception of Dave at Baldyne in his early days, and plus Arron at HT make the only people I have ever taken my hat off to and realy know there buisness in this so called expert engine field.

Roland is a superb engineer, I nearly went into business with him pre-Arron but we were messed about big time by a certain Heathrow based motor dealer cum co-ordinator (no names no pack drill). Shame really as i think it could have worked such is life. I trust it is all salvagable Eric.

As far as Combe locals winning the race I will have a £20 bet with anyone this will not happen slicks or no slicks. For a start they have a capacity limit of 3 litres, then I don't believe they allow 4WD (may be wrong) and they don't allow fiiting of turbos on machines that were none turboed, or V8 engines in Focus's, or Silluette space framed cars etc etc etc. Not a candle in the wind chance of a home win.

Yes you are wrong Al combe now has a four wheel drive class with a few EVO's and Subraru's and also a mighty quick audi Driven by a chap named keith Murray but i'm not sure he's entered the dtrc race, one of the EVO's is suppoed to be knocking out 500bhp...so perhaps you maybe eating your words!!!!!

We shall see later this afternoon

as for the £20 bet if i knew more about your championship then i'd be up for it but for this occasion i'll keep it in my wallet.

My money is still on Rod to win, closely followed by Nick Williamson but hey I hope one of your locals does (specially as you won't take my wager ) as it will spice things up a bit.

Can't Nick Williamson be considered to be a local, given that he races in the Special GTs?

Well looks on pole (as usual)

Nick seems to have lost a couple of seconds in DTRC compared to CC GT's.

He was running second for a while then pulled off, steve turvey did well in his combe based subrau though, enjoyed the race too would have been better if you and Al turned up...never mind

Oh and by the way Al Nick was my secret weapon [although i did not know he was entered was just hoping],i kept that one quiet and he is local and its not cheating
