Sveavägen, Sergels Torg, now this is starting to get interesting! You cant get more central then that! And its only a few meters away from Östermalm, where all the environment friendly and racing haters live! If this really comes true, this would be a huge step for racing in Sweden.

For other news on STCC.se:

Jens Edman in hunting the 2nd Volvo seat and wants to return to STCC after having spent the last few years in DTC.

An Italian team are looking at buying the 2 Mercs from Johansson and will get back with an definite answer within a week, if they buy them Johansson will start building new cars for next year based on the new Merc chassie.
It also says that he has been looking at runnig BMW and SEAT, but with cars like those he cant get any sponsors, so building own Mercedes cars is the only way, just showing its not always easier to be main stream.

It's a shame they get no technical support from AMG. But thats not a surprise, Mercedes hates 2L touring car racing.

I checked this proposed street circuit on earth.google.com, it seems to be 3.7 kms long, but there parts that need to be cut with shicanes like super wide Sveavagen or Malmskillnadsgatan. The roundabouts look really nice, really nice proposal. Hope they can find funding and go for it!

Just got a relpy from Mattias Andersson about his Alfa. It's a 2002 build that he's owned since 2004, and it's the only Super 2000 car he's owned. He hasn't sold a car to that team in Portugal, but he has sold an engine and some bodywork. During the four years he's owned the Alfa it has been fitted with some new parts from Italy and had some special improvements from the team itself. Big thanks to Mattias for the info

On the main page of touringcartimes there is a story about PG Andersson maybe joining the STCC. But no names of any possible teams or cars are mentioned. What would his options be?

So Johan Torén was right then afterall. Impressive to see him running in top 5 in some races this season in a car that old, and almost winning a race!
Kudos to him for taking the time to reply too!

About PG Andersson, I really dont know where he could end up, seeing as the 2006 Champion Thed Björk is still without a drive for next season! Looks like theres a lot of good drivers and good cars on the market, but no teams to run them...
STCC.se reports that Björk has a contrakt to run next season in the Czech touringcar serie, I guess for same team as last season in the Audi A4 DTM car. This would suggest his still aiming for a DTM drive?

Can you put more light on it?
Is it Antonin Charouz team?

Don't know, its the same as he ran this year.

But that has got nothing to do with any bigger chances to drive DTM or not for him.

I highly doubt he'll change from being 2 times JWRC champion to race Camaro Cup in Sweden, thats signing his own retirement! From stcc.se: "- STCC hade varit riktigt häftigt att köra. Men kanske också Carrera Cup." So its either STCC if he can get a driver, or its Carrera Cup, where there should be a few seats available for a driver like him. Camaro Cup is a dead end and not a place to build a career.

Good news from Honda! Engstrom has already shown that the Accord is quik enough to win races, and Bjork has already shown that he is good enough to become champion. If only they get the car to not break down al the time...

His negotiations at Macau seems to have paid off . I really hope he will be on the grid for a whole STCC-season. I really like him as a driver, no fuss and just pure sportsmanship. Curious if he will make some WTCC appearances, but we'll see.

I just love silly season

It's SEAT for Nordic Fine Art/Eriksson!

Seems like it will be essentially a new team with WRS gone to Chevrolet. Great news.

According to the Swedish newspaper Expressen there is another reason for Audi leaving the Swedish Touring Car Championship for next season. According to them Kristoffersson Motorsport wanted to continue with the current A4 in 2008 before switching to the new one in 2009, instead of taking a year off. Instead Audi Sweden has favored Mattias Ekström's new Audi JTCC (junior support class to STCC) team.
