I definetaly heard it from a number of cars at the same point of the Melbourne start/finnish straight and somewhere at Sepang im sure, not sure where though.

Pay particular attention to the rev counter between 6 seconds a 10 seconds running time....
Back then the TV rev counter worked by interpreting engine noise, not via telemetry from the teams. That's why it reacts to the audio breaking up, it's nothing to do with TC.

That video Phoenix, is not a TC car. Thats either 2000 or 2001. TC came back in at the Spanish GP in 01.

And, the rev counter is reading the sound signal to determin revs. The interference is causing it to cut out.

Interestingly the engine note change matched Hiedfelds KERS usage perfectly today, Brundle even commented on it at the time.
