The sport is healthy, audiences at tracks and in front of their TVs are growing, but at the end of every year we all start to panic about where the money will come from to go racing again. In that way MotoGP is just like every other level of the sport I've been involved in.
And as above, Sete to Ducati.

I just had a similar thought last night. MotoGP gets huge crowds at the track and TV coverage seems quite good. Those two things are the primary concern of sponsors, yet MotoGP seems to be scrambling much more than say F1 or NASCAR. Now I'm relatively new to following MotoGP, but what gives?

MotoGP is still something like a niche motorsport . other than Rossi who is a world wide superstar .. the others are much more local .. and even so . not even Rossi can compare to the F1 stars for exposure .or Nascar in US . and MotoGP doesn't make front cover of regular magazine too often .. MotoGP is still not that mainstream . a bit like rallying .. compared to F1 which is very much mainstream ... (see thread in F1 area about F1 and mainstream)

Roberts-Honda 2006 Done Deal

Quote:
Aksland wrote that his team’s 2006 plans will not be finalized until budgets are set, but the team will likely continue to run Michelin tires and that Kenny Lee Roberts, eldest son of Team Roberts principal Kenny Leroy Roberts, is at the top of the team’s “wish-list…as he has the experience and speed to get the results we hope to achieve with this package.” The team will most likely field only one rider.

Gah. I hate these things, I really do.

But here is the rider line-up speculation list

Repsol Honda: Hayden/Pedrosa
Fortuna Gresini Honda: Melandri/Elias
Sito Pons Racing: Stoner/Checa?/Biaggi?
Roberts Honda: Roberts Jr
Suzuki Racing: Hopkins/Vermulan
Kawasaki: Nakano/De Puniet
Duicati: Gibernau/Caparossi/Checa
Yamaha: Rossi/Edwards
Tech 3: ?
WCM: ?
D'Antin: Ellison?/Rolfo?

Bold: Confirmed.
Italic - Rumour.
Normal: "Most likely Confirmed", or "Confirmed, but where?"

Ellison has been or will be testing a D'Antin Ducati.
Xaus "Not out of MotoGP yet"
More than one Kawasaki team? Tech 3 Kawasaki with Olivier Jacque would make sense. Not that that means a thing.

Good to see Kenny keeping his team on track, they've had it tough this year and deserve a fortunate break.

Alex K has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
But in tech 3 he will "kill" his career!! IMHO he should say good bye and move himself to Superbike scene, with Camel or Pramac... but he should.

Camel seem intent on staying in motogp. Surely 10-15 million can get Max a seat in a shrinking motogp grid.

Options:
Max on a Camel Team KR/honda team? (with Kenny JR)
Max on a Camel Tech 3 Yamaha? (with ??)
Max on a Camel Pramac D'antin Ducati?? (with Robby Rolfo)

For now, Cardoso and Ellison are on board at D'Antin's Dukes, and Rolfo is moving to Tech 3 with Pramac backing.

Biaggi in talks with Team KR
Quote:
Max Biaggi is fighting to remain in MotoGP next season after Yamaha Tech 3 and Ducati D'Antin confirmed to Eurosport.com that the Italian was not wanted. Team Roberts is therefore Biaggi's final option following the news that his personal sponsor Camel has already quit Sito Pons' team

Ok then, if Checa is coming with the team and the other rider is Stoner, why are Camel stopping. Camel isnt max's personal sponsor, they sponsored the Pons team I thought.
Ok, he rode for them for a couple of years, but didnt he revoke that when he signed for Repsol, I cant seem to remember him weraing Camel gear when he about last year.
I found it strange that Camel were there anyway, and they didnt have a huge amount of success, especially with Troy.
Checa surely has money to bring from a sponsor and Stoner was heavily backed in 250 but may have been mostly LCR sponsors, Lucio is brilliant at getting sponsors, bike would look superb in Carrera livery!

Ajo Motorsport, formerly Honda privateer team, will be the Malaguti works team in 2006. Ajo Motorsport will develop and built the bikes, with full Malaguti backup. Tomoyoshi Koyama and Alexis Masbou will continue on the team.
