Oliveira now passes Kogure, Lyons, and Michigami for career GT500 wins with his 9th.
Takagi re-takes sole possession of 2nd in career GT300 class victories with his 17th. Nissan extends their record of what is now four consecutive GT500 wins to open a season. |

@rjoconnell
I'll be surprised if Nissan made a complete sweep for this year's season! Of course, the likes of Honda and Lexus are planning to dethrone them at Suzuka and the remaining races. |

NOB Taniguchi grieves that the straight line speed of #4 is slow compared with other AMGs.

A small one with Oliveira: https://youtu.be/iP-ffiwff38?t=2h37m1s This one is a 2015 Qualifying full lap onboard, at Fuji, with Rossiter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiRsQtaYoNs On this channel, you'll find great SGT and SF onboards https://www.youtube.com/user/316drive/videos |

According to Autosport web,
Drago Modulo (#15) had been hit by GT300 car (#360?). Motul NISMO(#1) had a gearbox trouble in the first part of Matsuda's 2nd stint(!). As for Keeper Tom's (#37), rear wing stay broke in the main straight line, and rear wing blew off. (wing stay is unified parts) http://www.as-web.jp/supergt/36686?all Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 7 Aug 2016 at 13:30. |

Anyone knows last time of the same thing happened at Super GT? I think it's the first one with unified regulation. |

Can I also say that Yuya Motojima had one absolutely great drive today? Drove the maximum 2/3rds distance, led before pitting, and helped Team Taisan get their first points since returning to the series. Mardenborough would be my hands-down ROTY pick so far, but Motojima is making the case to at least be 2nd in the voting.

The Calsonic car only had 12kg ballast, so I think it was a conclusion they'd be winning without any other GTR challenging. I think this season has played to Nissan thanks to their engine mostly. Next season will be different if Honda and Lexus realize that Nissan basically has a bespoke gt500 engine. Can't wait for Suzuka and to see the new Lexus LC GT500!

The deal seems to be that the Japanese production doesn't have the infrastructure to relay the onboards back live, so they're recorded and then used for rebroadcast. For a while now Subaru has been doing their own live onboards using the internet instead of the usual expensive system (first for dealership live viewings, later on Ustream), which they ran on the TV broadcast this week. http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/89908701 (jump to around 29m) It's worth remembering that compared to much of the rest of the world Super GT and Super Formula have pretty small audiences for headlining series with live TV broadcasts. |

Team Studie (#7) BOB Suzuki expresses frustrating feeling in his blog.
It's very Difficult http://lineblog.me/studiebob/archives/5771365.html I have a feeling that I have to tell the truth. But there is a lot of political ties. There is a information that I should not send to you. And there is also information that is not transmitted to the accurate, if I expressed in the words. I can say only a word. It is... Something that #7 (Studie) does not have, #55 (ARTA) had. Only it's certain. I don't have something. I don't have it. At least, now I don't have it. I don't have it too. I don't have a luck. I don't have (a luck). I'm really sorry to the people who supported us. I don't have a luck. |

Man, I feel that Team Studie should have factory support to have equal footing with ARTA.
@carbsmith By the way, I wonder if it's expensive to have the necessary equipment to show on-board cameras during the live race instead or recording it? And speaking of a small audience, let's not forget that Super GT is competing with baseball and football (or soccer) plus some variety shows here and there. |

Measure against heat is the problem we should clear away by Suzuka round.

It was a reference to the previous interview of JP on Saturday. Jiro-san said then something about the Olympics and JP answered that even if he got pole that was not the gold medal yet. After the win on Sunday, it was. It reminded me of the medals awarded for the winners in the Fuji Sprint Cup days. It was right at the time when Bernie was making his silly comments about medals for F1. |

I think the biggest problem why SGT has much less notoriety than USA's racing, DTM.... is the time zone. The races are too early on Europe and too late on the Americas. It's only good for Asians and countries from Oceania.

@Artur
True, but if you want a night race which will benefit in the Americas and Europe, Japan will have to compete with baseball at that period since most of the games are aired late afternoon. Speaking of medals, I think that goes to the person who made the fastest lap if that happened! |

Putting aside time zones, that kind of equipment comes from the TV production company and the TV broadcast is in Japanese in Japan. On like the 4th tier channel for the broadcaster at that.
