With Tasmania's borders closed until December and it unlikely that Victoria will reopen in time for Sandown, appears almost a dead cert that the season will conclude at Bathurst.

They probably could, if they started making their way over now

They are pretty well accepting that the season will end after Bathurst, with WA Sandown and Tas not happening. In effect we have one Darwin event, 2 x Townsville, 2x QIR and Bathurst left this year. That apparently will mean that Broadcasting contractual commitments will be met as will Championship criteria. They are also talking of Bathurst being postponed by one week to allow teams extra time for preparation for this year's only endurance race after such a long road trip. https://www.speedcafe.com/2020/08/19...e-date-change/ |

Given the latest advice from MA and the NSW Govt I am starting to doubt Bathurst will go ahead.

Im guessing it will go ahead, not sure of spectators or date. Can totally understand it being the last event of the year though. |

They can then enjoy a long break from travelling until the next season starts whenever / wherever that may be. (Crystal ball is in for service / updating atm!) |

At least by delaying Bathurst by a week, the event goes back to its original weekend.

Until 2000, Bathurst (the ARDC promoted event) was held on the Labor Day long weekend, i.e. the Sunday before the first Monday in October. The 1997 V8 race was held on the third weekend in October and then for the next couple of years in November.
After the ARDC race fell over, V8SC scored an own goal by not claiming the date and the National Rugby League pounced on it for its grand final. |

There is a trivia night question for you. When has the Bathurst 1000 been conducted in September?

One of my favourite moments in 30+ years marshalling was being on the radio at Bathurst and reporting "We have the kangaroo in sight and are keeping an eye on him".

Perhaps it is a combination of reduced interest in both Supercars and TenTenths as a platform? |
