It's funny cause the race was shown on JS4 but QLF was shown on FS1. I guess it all depends whether there are other more popular sports happening at the same time.

So the Fuji-spec rear wing becomes the default rear wing for next year, if I'm reading that correctly.

Those seem to be some massive downforce cuts for GT500.
They want to do it for safety reasons at smaller tracks like Sugo and Okayama, which is totally fair. Add to that how much downforce reductions have done in series like NASCAR in terms of improving the on-track action - I kind of like this really. |

At least the wide rear wing will aid the looks.

@TF110
Agreed, having a wide rear wing will look better for GT500, yet it won't help increase downforce! On the other hand, I feel that Cars Tokai Dream28 should abandon the Evora MC and revive the Mooncraft Shiden... using the Shiden Jr. as the base body. |

a wider rear wing shouldn't create more downforce?

Generally, yes.
But wide rear wing is used as low drag spec aero in Super GT. Narrow rear wing of SGT/DTM has the depth. So it increases more downforce. |

Trying to find a good side-by-side comparison of the FSW rear spoiler vs the high-downforce spoiler for reference to see what we're going for.

The wider wings are certainly more appealing from an aesthetic standpoint.

The slim rear wings aren't as deep. But the wide wing looks a lot better. I think this lends credence to the LC testing being a GT500 because it had a wide rear wing.

The body shape is pretty impossible for a GT500 car, this year or next. Dead giveaway is also the lack of an exhaust in the right hand door.

There isn't a mix up, the car we saw testing was GT3 spec. It hasn't been announced yet. The GT500 version has been announced. Two different cars, only one official yet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
