Makes sense. Do deals with companies that provide that service, rather than owning your own equipment.

Right, so what was Gilham meaning by a 'big name' last week? Or was that in relation to the 4th car, which could become Fuller's car if he gets a full season budget? Confused? You're damn right.

Interesting post from Tony on Facebook. He was out of funds in 2011, not "saving it for the future" like his chum who posts on here tells us....
Reflection time. This time last year we had 1 VW Golf Cup car and were looking to get back in to the BTCC after our debut season in the Vectra was cut short due to a budget shortfall. 12 months on and we now have 8 VW Cup Cars being prepped and 4 NGTC cars being readied for BTCC action for our 14 drivers all at our new Team HQ. It has been a whirlwind year and the HARD. work is well underway. We are under no illusions this is going to be easy but we have built up an amazing team and are all up for the challenge ahead. Thank you all for your continued support and looking forward to seeing what our boys have created and also what our boys and girls can do on track!!! I've got to say, he's a confident ambitious guy. If he can churn out NGTC cars in a short timeframe, then he could be onto something there. |

I'm sure I said a while ago: it's none of our business.
It's a classic "in the public interest" debate. Where the money has come from is of interest to some, but it's not actually something we need to know so isn't actually "in the public interest". "Of interest to the public" is a different thing entirely. We could be asking the same question of all the teams, but we don't - because they're private businesses. Gilham is running one of those too. Do you ask your local new independent coffee shop where "the money came from"? |

Some drivers pay for their drives, on top of that Tony having plenty of money left over from his cage fighting days.

You can discuss or speculate on anything you like. Making claims about something or someone is a different matter obviously. But as you say, we don't do the latter on here and we still manage to have a lot of fun.

But the difference there is that he would have had to spend his own money to fund his drive - now he has other drivers funding the car builds and he can use his own money to set up the team. In future years (with car builds paid for) he can start to make money from the business - so he ends up with cash coming in rather than just frittering away his money. Or at least - that's the theory.

I kinda figured they'd have to be if TOC was in one of them. Still begs the original question I [and a load of others] have been asking... I guess the answer may unfold in time (!)

He was charging £299 for the VW Scolarship competition. I wonder how many people entered that??? Could that be where he got some of the money from????

Highly doubtful. Even if you are very optimistic and say 100 people entered the VW scholarship, that still is only just short of £30k.
The money that's generated from that will run the car for the year and that's it. |
