Q: the Nissan Dpi project with ESM/Patron+Ligier keeps getting referred to as 'customer project', how does that work? I'm guessing Nissan is paying the required mnf. fee and ESM/Patron pays for the styled bodywork designed by Ligier. Is Nissan supplying the engines or are Sharp & Co. paying for those as well? I can see others doing something similar in the nearby future (Keating with AMG for example). |

Plus side is one fee is required only, not one per class so if someone wanted to get a GTR GT3 the fee is paid and it could be a GTD car, I think. The Nissan guy had mentioned that in passing in the S365 article I believe, something along the lines of we will support any team and Nissan product that comes to the track the best we can (or that team can afford). |

It'll probably have some unique headlights and a little Nissan grille or badge on the front. That's their 'manufacturer bodywork' And if it's only that, I think IMSA looks a little foolish.

Depends on what GM and Mazda do with theirs. If Nissan's the only one who takes the lazy route, not many will think much of it. |

Nissan will likely be 'lazy' ... others have spoken with IMSA about potential future entries and have been given the okay to also 'be lazy' so long as it's relatable to the brand. |

Everybody will see it in a couple days(Cadillac and Mazda DPi).
Honda is having their press event(this week) before the LA Show like everybody else because you just do not get enough time at the show.(around only 20 minutes per brand) |

I'm sure that ACO won't allow DPi to compete in Le Mans due to its wide cockpit. Might as well compete in Super GT instead!

It's probably just a random image they came up with. Too low and wide to be a GT and cockpit not narrow enough for a p2.

Don't tell me that they just ditched LMP2 regulations for Class One? Then again, it won't happen and you're right TF110, it could be a random image.

Looks like a cover thrown over a 'prototype BHF' to me, at least along the right rear line below the wing to the fender. So if it is well bloused across the front from the roof to the fender it would be hard to tell just how wide the cockpit is. Just sayin'.

WEC vs IMSA: LMP1 5 - 0 LMP2 ~10 - 11 GTE ~15 - 10 Yes WEC is still superior. PC and GT3 is lesser categories and thus neglected in the comparison. |

All those GTE-Am cars would be GT3 if they were allowed to be.
IMSA is stronger. The image from IMSA looks to be a manipulated R8. |

I don't see what comparing the series really achieves. One has GT3s, one doesn't. One has DPis, one doesn't. One has P1s, and the other doesn't. One is a world championship, the other isn't. Whilst there is a cross over, saying X is stronger than Y is losing sight of the the fact that everything is looking pretty strong right now. ELMS had 36 cars at Estoril btw. |
