The International GT Open is a totally different championship (run by the same people). The Spanish GT Championship still exists, and doesn't share a single weekend.

All else being equal, I think some GT2 free agents who know the series, car type and tracks (not all ALMS tracks are on the open-wheel map) would have been better bets. Just my take!

Remember some of the Risi musical chairs drivers showed that being quick in open-wheelers does not a GT2 driver make, and that was in a car that drivers said was more open-wheel-like than most GTs.
Only time will tell how these guys fare, but there have been some open-wheelers who transitioned nicely into sports cars recently.

Pagenaud and de Ferran comes to mind. Of course, the Acuras were closer to single seaters than GT cars, but it is possible that the new RSR boys can be a pleasant surprise like those two.

No longer at that level, based on what?

I think most of the racing world view him as "damaged goods" from his head injury. That happens to many drivers, Davey Jones is another example. They didn't loose their talent they lost their opportunities by a sport that's not very loyal to its athletes.

There really isn't much to base it on. He's only run a few races since 2006. His results in 2008 weren't great... a second off a team car in the race at Laguna Seca... otherwise nadda.

What we don't know, is how often he has tested for a team, and had the other driver chosen over him.

I have to say, that misspelling of lose always cracks me up.

Seems like Christo has been charged with being test driver. That's what he said in the press release.

Paul Miller switch to GT Porsche, hope those Yokohama tires works on the car, likely it's going to be a full season entry if everything goes well.Porsche must have an eye on them after they finished 2nd in 24h Daytona with an elder car.

Chris Dyson interviewed on DSC, suggests that a second car is a possibility- hopefully in time for Sebring, but they're looking at it 'one race at a time for now'

An announcement re: Jay Cochran is expected during the Sebring test.

So, Robertson Racing enters two Michelin-equipped Doran Fords for full ALMS campaign. I was expecting just one full-season car, with second car doing selected rounds. But hey, looks great

Still a bit disappointing Ford-wise, since ACS and Matech couldn't keep their promises.

Yes, with Murray and Lazarro driving as well in second car with Robertsons in the other. Nice.

And I think that the fact that Michelin is their tire supplier is probably down to the Ford Racing money(?).

Are you assuming they're using Yokohamas based on the photos on their website of their GTC car with Yokohama rubber or do you know something we don't?

From what I can see that's a good job with the livery, it's playing nice with the Aston's lines!

According to Dagys Autocon will miss Sebring as the car is in England being updated and on DSC Dyson say they are still looking to run two cars, possibly in time for Sebring.

Spanish GT is a national championship that races in Spain and Portugal, so it caters to local interests.
GT Open is international and aims at attracting pan-european teams.

Nice paint job on the Aston. It reminds me of the RS Spyder colors. Shame we won't see that proto racing anymore.
