Didn't seem to move away from the GT through the corner in miatanut's (thanks for vid miatanut) youtube clip, only jumping clear on the straight.
Will be interesting.
I haven't had a chance to look at the details on qualifying yet, but during testing it looked like it was really good on the straights, but a little slow on the twisty bits, but Don Panoz pointed out they were staying away from curbs, and curb jumping can gain you a couple seconds.

Now it appears they also want to stay away from curbs for the race!

It would be very annoying if stupid stuff like this took them out of the race, but given they have probably been very busy sorting through issues with new technology, there are probably all kinds of old tech things like this that haven't gotten adequate attention.

I think they have already made the basic point the car was built to make.

There can be a better way!

According to the ACO and Michelin, the car has so far logged, through the periods of track running at Le Mans, a total of 1500 km ON A SINGLE SET OF TIRES.

You really need to see this thing in the flesh - it's very impressive. I'm not saying I'm a total convert, by any means, but I am glad it's here.

On lemans.org a story of Michelin's new tires for hybrids gives a mention of the DW- their target is 10stinting a single set of tires!

Apparently they wont be using the trick torque vectoring. They have run out of time dealing with the gearbox issues to incorporate it into the car. It sounds like it is already getting through the corners quite well without it but there was surely some potential lost there.

It certainly looked mighty impressive around Tertre Rouge, although there was a significant tank-slapping moment we saw......

Would like to hear more about this ... how it got out of shape, what it did, and how it recovered.

Since they only did three laps in wednesday's night session, all drivers still needed to do their night qualifying laps. They probably didn't want to risk any problems.

from twitter it sounded like they were focusing on race prep and setup's, and of course getting the drivers qualified. They did run into some issues with the brake system last night. Air was getting into the system and they weren't sure where

After my post I bumped into Bowlby's comment on that somewhere.

That's what's going to be maddening about this. When it does go out, it will be over something where it's similar to all the other cars, except for possibly the gearbox. The other stuff, where it's really unusual, will do fine.

If it's around at 24H, I'll be dancing on the ceiling!

I'd like to see them put down a few all-out laps in the first couple hours to show everybody what it can do, and then just try to stay out of trouble.

Well that puts to bed the earlier suggestions that they weren't allowed to go below 3:45... clearly in that session they were trying to go as fast as possible -including using the kerbs....

Now we know the real reason for not going below 3:45; if by chance you hit the curb the fire extinguisher goes off.

They were supposed to be between P1 & P2 and apparently ACO thought that was going to be 3:45 and it turns out it's really at 3:38. Maybe the ACO is now OK with it going 3:38.

The ACO also assumed people would get what they meant about target times. They are wrong quite often.
