DSC asked whether the app was to be geoblocked in North America and got explicit written confirmation that this was so from the proper authority.
The later tweets from WEC were - I understand - a result of miscommunication internally - hence their deletion |

Unlikely, as that means they will not be able to enter Le Mans 2019.

When they have first started to speak about LMP2, they were speaking about doing LM18 and may be Spa. Then they have appeared on the WEC entry list. I guess that if they haven't, they had no chance to get a ticket to LM18. Indeed, looking on the pilot change, the drop out looks possible...

Stupid question - is any LMP1 team this year now using the new Judd AIM V10?

Well, I was wrong about the geoblocking of the wec app. WEC confirmed (again) today that it will be geoblocked in the US and english speaking Canada. The motortrend app is your alternative which is 8 dollars more per year. Not too bad considering you get at least half a dozen more racing series to watch on it. I'll do like usual and watch online.

I do wonder why that crap only happens in North America.

Yes and one in 2016-2017 (Fuji).
I've always said that Judd suffered a awful lot from the 2012 LMP1 engine set of rules and had no resource to enhance the DB V8 to make it suitable to the category. But not any independant engine maker had, and the recurring failures of the DB steadily damaged the company's image. However, the HK LMP2 engine was quite decent. It was probably lacking a bit of torque against bigger machines like Nissan or Honda, but the reliability track record was not bad at all. I think at that time Judd sales suffered from crumbling LMP1 performances and a fame deficit against international car brands like Nissan. They are still suffering today from this horrible 2011-2013 moment, courtesy of a pointless ruleset by the ACO. That's a shame because the 5.5L V10 (and it's AIM cousin) were damn good for the job. |

What Aleshin said, what a joke. As if the rules are what they are because of "loyalty"... It's running a hybrid and you're not, in addition to the budget gap, deal with it. That's not giving anyone an unfair advantage. There are plenty of bop & spec categories to choose from if you desire artificial closeness and circus games. Webb's quotes are much more reasonable. |

The WEC app is not geoblocked anywhere else in the world. There are plenty of countries that both have the WEC app and a 3rd party broadcaster available.

Well, the guy is just giving his opinion. You like it or not. Indeed Webb's quotes are much more reasonable.
Anyway this is a very clear statement that those privateer LMP1 will have no chances against Toyota in this so called super-season. |

In any case, if/when the Toyotas melt down at Le Mans again, it isn't going to matter if they beat the nonhybrids by 100 laps in the sprint races. The public and record books will only really remember what happens at Sarthe The other thing is that by Sebring there could be quite a bunch of additional developed nonhybrids lined up, who knows. |

The cars are a lot closer than they want to admit. A non-tested Rebellion Oreca did a 1:37 at the prologue, more than once. So did Aleshin's BR SMP Dallara's. These cars aren't lacking speed so this article is beyond misleading.
