My point was and yes Peter is right, in that case you get a fired up young guy with his bird leap out of a car and and start remonstrating with an old grey hair guy because he believes he has been cut up or what ever and the point is you dont know who your dealing with. Noye tried to get the guy to back off he wouldnt as he knew a bit of mashal arts and probably thought I'll show him so Noye pulled a knife and stabbed him. I know blokes that are my age that still do bare fised fighting this fellow wants to thank his luck stars it was not one of them because they would have taken him apart. Anyhow as it is he is lucky he got back in the car when he did the pillock, all so bloody uncalled for.

Don't get any easier as you get older does it? Putting bloody V8 engines and gearboxes in 3rd Gen Camaros that is ruddy tight fit not like the old 2nd Gen. I'm knackered!

Not so easy on the third gen as with the big sump I cannot pull the engine out unless I remove the gearbox first and thats not so easy as it has a big old torque arm bolted to the gearbox crossmember and the back axle that has to be disconected and jacked out the way, also as its a smaller body the headers are seriously tight and have to be persueded in whist wrigling in the engine. The other old girl is a piece of cake I admit and like working on a big old Tonka toy.

Al, I think you should make things easier for yorself and get something reliable and small/easy to maintain. an Anglia perhaps

Terence, that bus was cosmic man, My step Dad and his best mate toured SOuthern Europe and North Africa in it early mid 70's, there was half of Norway up the back, 2 bedrroms, all the tanks and shower cubicle where made from Duttons finest GRP, C90 on the back, apart from the drive/weight/brakes it'd be a superb race truck

Start money those were the days.I remember being in the daldrums back in 81 i think, had no engine then a phone call from an engine builder who said he would supply the engine for half the start money. Sounds good . 1st race and im leading by a country mile when ran out of fuel. Still finnished 3rd with fastest lap. 2nd race 3rd again looking good for championship. Then we had DNF's with engine blow ups there after and me and the engine bulider parted company.Cost me more money in oil and anti freeze than what we had in start money. Still "happy days"

I was just discussing on the Falken Tyres thread about start money. Some of the guys were also doing the Vauxhall scheme so as well as the generous prize fund from Falken also had good wonga from Vauxhall and could do a meeting on a profit, where do it all go pear shaped.

When the middlemen 'series' came to the fore and wanted to make a profit.

You may be right, our ModProd championship was run via our club The Racing Saloon Club of which I was chairman and the races put on for us by the BARC. Membership for the RSCC was a meagre £25 which registered you for the championship and all I took out of it was expenses, printing etc. ALL the rest after the aforementioned cut to BARC and MSA went into the pot back to the drivers either as a prize fund/grid money or towards equipment like the Eazy-up, our own awards or the end of season party and awards do.

Don't know if I have any pics.....only had it for about a year - until shortly after I passed my driving test (OMG - almost exactly 42 years ago) and found that 4 wheels had much more attraction.......

Should have kept it though, its registration number was MEN 50.....would have been worth more than the scooter, that's for sure. IIRC I sold the LD for £15.......

....and then he put aside foolish things (such as Lambrettas), cut his hair and went on to be an internationally acclaimed racing driver. Seen in this picture at the time he had completely lost his car.
