So you are saying I should bring a "FBI" type shirt next year?

I have always found the Sebring crowd to be mostly the traditional old-fashioned enduro crowd - very comfortable to me. For all of the 50 or so years I have been going to races there have always been a few outhouse burners etc. everywhere but they are a minority and usually segregate themselves at the tracks. Unfortunately, I would expect rap to fit their demographic well though it might be good to keep them occupied.
I can say the average age seems to be increasing slowly. I remember the Bikini contests and volleyball games fondly but never really had much time for them, otoh the girls giving out sports drink samples and manning the show tents are perfectly satisfactory. |

Only on Friday night does it relly get raucous... but painfully so. The biggest headache is the obnoxiously loud stereo's plastered on the back of the pickups.. an the train horns to go along with them.

It's obviously not "game changing", but I see nothing wrong with them having a concert. I hate rap, but it it helps bring in more fans, it's cool. Actually, it would probably be a good idea to have a state with bands booked all day both Thursday and friday with different genres represented. Give more college age people an excuse to make Sebring their destination. Once they're there, they'll almost be forced to see some racing and the spectacle that is the atmosphere there. Then it just 10% of them became fans of the racing and came back, it would help to lower the aging demographics of the fans and keep the sport more relevant.
Every other sport makes a point to offer more at the stadium in some way or another. While they could cut out half of the infield stuff at any race event I've ever attended and I'd still have a blast because I love the racing and spend basically the entire day up by the fences (i usually made almost two full laps of Sebring on foot on race day getting various vantage points) I understand not everyone is as focused on the racing as I am. So these types of things can only be a good thing. |

I was at the track today and the iconic frontstretch scoring pylon has been taken down already. I was there Wednesday also, having a good look at it because I knew they were going to be removing it soon, but didn't realize it would be gone 2 days later. Hopefully they replace it with one that's similar in appearance like they did at Indianapolis.

For cover band fans, there's a "fan band" that plays every year inside turn 10, homemade stage and all. Turn 10 is a must visit at any point in the weekend but after hours is certainly a hoot.

I always thought it was awesome that rebellion let the guys put a turn 10 sticker on the car. I think some other teams did too, just can't remember who.

Just got word from the internet SO YOU KNOW IT MUST BE TRUE Both Peter Noone "Hermans Hermits Fame AND David Cassidy of the Partridge Family will be attending the Sebring Event " Perhaps looking for a JAM session or to resurrect their Careers
That alone should be worth the price of admission |

I was very cynical when they started doing concerts during Spa (usually dance music) and Le Mans, but works really well and there's always a really good atmosphere.

Not really my style either way but I would have preferred seeing them do a Dance/Techo aka DJ a hell of a lot more than hard rap music. 39th straight year attending this year and that choice leaves me shaking my head,

He's not really hard rap. He's a 'common' (pop) rapper and will probably do some of his weak radio hits. I feel your pain, though. But some other musical acts I've heard of aren't very family-friendly either. I agree with you about just doing some dance/techno. Maybe they're trying to attract a new crowd. That's why I asked what the diversity is like at Sebring.

Maybe it is just time the big US enduros catch up with what other races have been doing. Road Atlanta is advertising a concert/race weekend for the first time, although no word on a concert yet for Petit.

Gridlife is also an autocross and time attack event. Pure club level, but very fun to participate in.

Am I missing something, I mean, why there are two 2016 Sebring 12h threads?

There's a race thread, and then there's this which is the accessibility thread.
