That's controlled by licencing and stewards.

They all passed a test to be there. So, the blame is not wholly the drivers.

Did Dale Wood cop any penalties for doing the same thing in last years Supercheap 1000?

Really!?

Of course the blame is with the drivers, or is there some 'dog ate my homework' thing happening here?

While the steward could have, and should have, made an example of one or two, the drivers have to carry the can - they are the ones behind the wheel, and they decide how far down the right hand pedal goes while the yellow is waving.

If licencing was harder to get in the first place and also had a points/penalty system in place, much like a road licence system, things would be different.

The system is flawed. Even I have a race license!

It's not that simple to just blame the driver. I've been in exactly this situation myself.

Safety car out, stuck behind a fast car going very slow down Conrod under yellows, he then takes off to catch up, I'm in a slower car, have to run nearly 100% to catch up (drivers are advised that they should catch up to the safety car as quickly as possible, race control doesn't like restarting with cars still strewn out all around the track).

Safety car I think does 80 around Bathurst? I'm sure it slows right down as it goes down Skyline! This is where the cars all back up from. By the time I get to Skyline trying to catch up half the field is doing 5kmh by the time you come around McPhillamy.

In my situation I'm backed off to maybe 60% once I get to the cutting, as I'm aware of the possibility of the entire grid being parked around the next blind corner. But even then it's very easy to get caught out suddenly having to hit the anchors.

So it's not just the driver to blame in this situation. Safety car deployments on such a long track with so many blind corners does create serious challenges.

And yes in my example I'm slowing right down where marshals or damage is on track. Once you've been around once you know where this is. The problem with the Safety Car train is you can suddenly catch up on the back of this anywhere.

Great to hear Victor, you won't be disappointed Not sure whether your camping, however if you are looking at Motels, then you need to book now.

Will probably be camping with someone. Either that or renting a car and shuttling back-and-forth from Sydney.

You definitely do not want to go back and forth from Sydney. It is about two and a half hours away and it isn't a good drive. If Bathurst is full, Orange is a good option as it is an easy 30-40 minute drive.

An interesting chat, it doesn't look like any talks of an Asia-Pacific GT3 Series has gone very far.

I'd prefer the Bathurst 12hr just kept doing what its doing as a standalone rather than get involved in someone elses series. The event has no trouble attracting overseas competitors as is.

interesting for sepang 12hr no pro line up which is good.

http://vmail.vertouk.com/userfiles/s...%2002%2002.pdf

interesting 3 driver line ups being 1 platinum and 2 bronze or 2 silvers and 1 bronze.

silver drivers will be in demand, golds miss out and 1 platinum and 2 bronze combo won't have the pace to win it.

4 driver plat, gold, silv and bronze will be the quickest combo but if the bronze is paying for everything then he misses out on track time.

doubt Bathurst 12hr will take the same approach with driver seeding, but who knows.

4 drivers isn't right for 12 hours, should be 3 and the combo should be 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze or 1 plat, 1 gold and 1 bronze or 1 plat, 1 silver and 1 bronze, or a lesser strength like 2 silvers and 1 bronze or 2 plat or 2 gold but always have the bronze. now I'm confused.

Was looking for this thread to post this very article . Gotta keep the next nine months flying quick enough til next years race.

I can see Phoenix coming back with the new car especially since Audi will want a good showing to get potential customers down here opening their wallets. Maybe a customer car, if there is time? Not sure when deliveries to customers begin-late this year at a guess.

It's a bit of a stretch for them. The team have tended to stick to Europe. They once entered a car for a few amateurs in Dubai 24 but from memory they pulled the pin on it after they'd turned up ($$$$ didn't arrive I guess). Just like Marc VDS another team is desperately would love to see down here but they will stay in Europe unfortunately. Hope I'm wrong. BMW really needs some good representation in next years race.

I would have thought that all 3 from last year would have been automatic starters for next year.
Can they fit a 4th support category into the program ?
I'll be happy if the Combined sedans get a start.
