Nine owns Stan and is just trying to prop up old media, and ARG with this move have just taken eyes away from all your categories. How long will it take for some of these classes to split? Funny how these things repeat themselves. |

This is definitely not what the Touring Car Masters competitors signed up for when they went with ARG.I can see them wanting to terminate the agreement and go back to Supercars ASAP TransAm competitors who are paying more than double the cost of running the AMRS TA2 series with most of the exposure benefits of ARG going, going, gone have an alternative they can move to next week. GT can probably get more track time than they would at Supercar meetings so might stick around. It’s already been noted that the 6 Hour competitors are more than a little angry. If ARG is left with just TCR and S5000 at least a 2 Hour highlights package might be intelligible. |

How can TCM split when ARG holds the category rights?
Caruso confirmed at ASM. Good news because I’d assumed ASM might have departed. Presumably the full season but backing is only mentioned for round 1. Jason Bargwanna not running this year, presumably that frees up a Peugeot now? Coulthard is only confirmed for round 1…… what’s happened to John Martin? |

"Kumho V8 Classic Series" running under AMRS incase V8 Touring Cars don't want to be exclusively on Stan...
Probably quicker than I expected, but we've seen this all before. Clearly not consulting the categories before making such a move was not smart. |

That was a category that was announced last year. The biggest difference between Kumho's and the old Super 3 is tyre size; cars run their original size from when the car was built.

Free to air for Symmons Plains doesn’t mean much.Comparing the meeting schedule with the 9 telecast schedule their coverage on Sunday ends before the feature races for TCR,S5000 and TransAm.So 9 can switch to a replay of Getaway followed by a 1959 black and white movie.

It’s more likely to just **** people off though on the day. Has the BoP on the Honda’s changed significantly enough since last year that the STAN Sport entry might stand a chance? They got hosed last year. Why was the Baskerville event dropped this year? |

Re Baskerville.Hardly any entrants went there outside of TransAm and I think they realised it is not suitable for national level racing. |

Recently Foxtel knocked back a multimillion-dollar deal which Stan Sport picked up with the signing of a partnership with Australian Racing Group to cover the new domestic ARG Speed Series and key Australian motorsport events.
Although the terms of the deal have not been divulged insiders have told ChannelNews that when Foxtel management ran a ruler over the deal Vs the potential returns “the deal did not stack up”. https://www.channelnews.com.au/foxte...ibers-grow-66/ Last edited by cavvy; 7 Feb 2022 at 23:51. It certainly continued into the new era from '93 onwards with all cars displaying the "CAMS Group A" logo. |

Also Matt White apparently is attached to the Stan deal. So will we just see a Ch10 style parade of cross promotion of Stan shows? I think I am growing more happy with my choice. Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk |

The Group A tag was still used no later than 1996…..of course the pay TV coverage for the 1996 series was on Optus Vision, with Foxtel gaining the reply rights from 1997 when V8Supercars started. |

the dollars
The relevant bit is the money - all series need the money from TV in its various streams, & if doesnt stack up .....

But so far not any mention of that going to any competitors. Money is one thing but if sponsors don't get eyeballs the circus stops. |

Why not? Both 2000cc and 5000cc were just modified Group A cars, indeed some of them were literally modified Group A cars (destroked M3s, destroked 190Es, Commodores, de-turboed Sierras etc). The 2000cc sprouted wings like the 5000cc cars by '96 anyway. It's a shame that the BTCC and ATCC couldn't agree on a common set of regulations.
TCR, unfortunately, doesn't have the sound (8000rpm, inline-fives, V6s... lovely!) or the agility (1000kg regulation weight IIRC) of the 2000cc class, but it is the best we have for multi-make touring car racing... Apart from Improved Production which does indeed have relatively open regulations and is indeed a lot of fun. Last edited by V8 Fireworks; 8 Feb 2022 at 16:43. |

Mixer, as a business & finance fan, wants to know if any of the money from the tv deal is going to competitors?
Well, considering one of the points he's been banging on about for 3 years is of ARG propping up field numbers, then I suppose the money is going directly to the competitors? I don't understand how a series that didn't run in 2020 can warrant a deal like it's got? Maybe because not running in 2020 wasn't a big deal under the circumstances. Pubs and sports bars are going to spend $5000 a month on Foxtel because their patrons want to watch the support racing of the secondary series of Aus motorsport? That seems a bit far fetched to me. Tony D'Alberto inferred that running a TCR for 24 hours would be boring? Oh no, what a terrible look. Anything to take a **** on the series. |

I don't quite get the tv deal. But I'm amazed at the meltdown about it for what is the Shannons Nationals.
Surely Stan Sport will get a horde of subscribers now. After all, the only reason why anybody goes to those meetings is for S5000 and TA2. I often hear about how people only like those cars at those meetings. Baskerville was included to get a full series completed conveniently. It otherwise wouldn't have been considered for a national series. I'm not into the week delayed broadcast, but I think edited coverage that evening would be best. The lengthy live coverage doesn't really work for this type of series, especially when we're getting 5 hours. There were too many dead periods that need padding. |

I'm really liking the look of some of the liveries that have been shown on the TCR Facebook page, 4 so far look like they will stand out and look good on TV.
