Guys I mean what I said and are more than happy to show poeple around the cars. There are four cars in all but only two in the shop at the moment (needed the room for paying cars),the 405 and the 406 raced by Tony Newman from 97 - 2000. The 406 is the one that raced at Oran P. with Ric Shaw at the wheel and came away with the points for the day.

Must resist urge...too late!! The broken record in me just kicked...For the record, there must have been 3 SUPERTOURING Camrys of that particular bodystyle built, but it is true that none made it to the track. Where there are now is anyones guess.

They were built for the 1999 American championship weren't they, rumoured to be possibly getting Toyota backing, before Dodge pulled out and the Super Touring series was canned.

Yes, see, I've repeated it so many times, even racer69 knows the story now!! Can you imagine what it would have been like, to see a Toyota Camry (of that bodystyle) dueling with BMW, Accord, Mondeo!! Sighh...

- Hrmmm, it would probably look like a Camry racing against a BMW, Accord and Mondeo ... in GTP, it really wasn't that amazing, whacky or strange

It wouldn't have meant more cars on the track though, that would have been great.
Anyone know who will be replacing Sam Dale for next week yet ?

Me, I am also guessing probably Team Mondeo aswell.
After reading up on the St website, most of the drivers are predicting big things for themselves at Mallala this weekend. Morgan belives pole could be on the cards, same for Gurr, Hills. However about the only guy not talkin up his chances is Henderson and he will probably be the guy that will take out the round this weekend.

I thought Henderson gave up on ST and sold his Vectra to someone else? Has he or has his car returned?

Be highly unlikely to get an entry list until the cars actually hit the track.

Entry has no Henderson. A mind-boggling 11 have entered for Mallala and are Searle, Morgan, Dale, Saunders, Gurr, Johnson, Rae, Hills, Miller, Leabeater and Rolfo.

When will someone put this lot out of their misery?

As far as i know Henderson never sold his car, although he was meant to go and race in the Konica series with a Falcon. His name is still on the teams list on the website though.

As for Miller, he was meant to be there in round 1 as well and didn't show. Better than no races at all though.

I belive that, at the middle to end of 2001, The henderson vectra was leased to Jim Cornish to contest the 2001-2002 aussie championship. That never envuated, so I guess the car returned to Henderson. The first I heard about Henderson racing this year was fromm ASTEM. Whitenight, where did you get your list from ? Wheres championship leader Shaw, Hyundai Lantra, Craig Bradshaw.
Good to see the 2nd Team Searle car will be there, apparently still with the PLayboy sponsorship. If you don't mind I think I'll wait for ASTEM's entry list for this weeks race at Mallala.

I find it hard to believe the Searle BMW still has Playboy sponsorship seeing as Playboy Australia folded a few years ago now. I think it's just a case of the car looks to good to re-paint.

The Playboy BMW was at the Oran Park PowerTour round, just sitting in the pitbay next to the SAE #30 BMW, still in the same livery, actually it still had 7sport stickers on the car. From what i have heard, the car will still be sponsered by playboy.

As for the entry lists, the final makeup of the entry will be known when race 1 starts.

Interesting information Buckshot, thanks for that I'll try and look into it. I would have thought though, that Team Searle would have just painted to 2 cars in SAE/ Roadchill Express colours to give each sponsor more Tv time.

Mr Squiggle should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I remember when Brooke Tatnell wanted to make his big break out of speedway into road racing. He chose supertouring at the time because it did show some promise. He purchased an ex John Cleland Vectra (I think) and had some retty good showings with a crew that was used to setting a car up to go in one direction only!!!
However, the costs of running the thing at the pointy end of the field were horrific by his normal budgetary standards. They were astonished at what an engine cost to rebuild (an all to common occurence) and finally went back to Sprint Cars, never to return again.
Moral of teh story is this. Supertouring is expensive when you consider that teams are pushing s*** up a hill trying to get a budget togethor with almost no exposure.

Didn't Brooke Tatnell drive for Graham Moore's Sentul Motorsport team, running an ex-James Thompson Cavalier, and they pulled out because they couldn't get the engine parts for it o someting.

Anyone know anything about the results from the PowerTour ST races on the weekend, who competed, who won etc... i haven't heard nothing about it.

Results from the meeting haven't been published on the web.

This isn't unusual for Mallala, however, as they seem to have a habit of not doing this - rumours circulating indicate quite a large sum is required in order for half a dozen phone calls to be made daily! (Event the VSRS timekeepers manage to do it in one call each evening!)
