I agree, absolute utter drivel from someone who has no idea what he's talking about.

Can't see what's so objectionable about that article - Schumacher is clearly in a class of his own from every angle. I thought it was a bit cruel to shut Rubens out at Indy, but that is only one race and the only race (apart from Monaco) where Michael has had any rival.

The objectionable thing about the article is that it appears to resent excellence.

In many ways his fundamental point holds true. It's just the he tried - and failed - to be funny...

Only in so much as he uses the resentment of excellence as a comedic device.

I really hope someone can beat Schumacher before he retires. BAR aren't looking too far off from that either. I would feel much better about F1 if some of the competition rose to Schu's level as opposed to just waiting for his retirement. I really doubt Michael will retire as long as he is winning; I'm sure he wants to set his records as far out of reach as he can.

Last weekend: Nothing but F1, This weekend: crammed with Moto GP, WRC, ETCC, DTM, FIA GT, Euro F3 and such.
FIM has nothing to do with FIA, so why not compete with Formula 1 and create a choice for those who are bored the F1 like it is now?

I look forward to these kind of weekends alot more than those like last weekend, for sure.
If F1 and MotoGP would be on at the same time, i would watch MotoGP, no doubt.

Obviously you missed the Champ Cars last weekend.

And the British F3 and GTs.

And the NASCAR.

And all the other racing.

Well I find it no problem with all these disciplines.

I watch what I like and talk about it the relevant forum. I chose forums to visit through what I like, not what I don't.

I am old enough to remeber the days (in the early 1950's)when Formula 1 was demoted, and another Formula (Two) became the preferred challenge. Alberto Ascari and the Ferrari 500 dominated and Maserati single handedly played out the role now being fulfilled by BAR, Renault, Williams and Mclaren. (OK Brits I know Moss's HWM won a race).
We had to wait for a brand new and very open-ended Formula 1 to lift our spirits. Like me, Bernie Ecclestone is old enough to remember this (he was a Formula 3 race driver around that time) but maybe he's forgotten.
A major problem with Formula 1 is that it's over-specified. The effect of the formula is to require all cars to be closely alike, meaning "no overtaking". As evidence refer to the fact that many times in qualifying just one second covers the top ten competitors. Also the recent brake duct charade. If a designer can't alter a the location of a brake duct we just as well make F1 a competition for one make stock standard cars (shades of current Porsche comps which is pulling crowds with exciting races).
As a PS: I switched my affiliation to the US Champ Car competition some years back. Not only is the racing entertaining, but mostly they're really nice people too!

Champ Cars - can't see it anywhere

British F3 - can't see it and GT - can't see it and not care

NASCAR - can see it - on next Tuesday after the race

Other racing, yeah, maybe some national racing.

Michael has always maintained that winning is what matters the most to him. the records aren't worth that much. i have no reason not to believe him.
