I guess we'll see who 'showed up at the gate' that aren't on the entry list for the Sebring test....

A few driver announcements for the Winter Test and for the race itself: http://www.endurance-info.com/versio...nce-15706.html
Big surprise = Ryan Dalziel in one of the SRT Vipers. Toni Vilander returns to ESM, while Gianmaria Bruni is announced as the third Risi driver for Sebring. |

Nice to see vilander and Bruni in ferrari rides. Also hope dalziel impresses in the viper. We needed to see what they are capable of with I guess you could say current talent.

So we are back to 12 full season GTE's now?
Core entering a Porsche at Laguna Seca. And then waiting on what TRG is doing? |

Two BMWs, two Vettes, two Vipers; one Risi Ferrari, two ESM Ferraris, Falken Porsche, Paul Miller Porsche, one AJR Ferrari, that makes 12, with Core and TRG that would be 14.

Testing today, seems the Viper is only a few tenths back on the fastest Ferrari of the Risi 2:01.645 to 2:02.052. Much closer than last year.

Depends a lot on the setups used on each car during the test... We could be reading qualifying setup on one car, and race setup on the other..

Actually they were only 3 tenths faster. 2:01.645 to 2:01.966. And with the amount of lap difference, I don't think Ferrari are that much faster. They completed almost twice as many as the Vipers.

I'm not sure how much we can read into this. Muscle Milk beat their qualifying time from last year today and 2 GTC cars beat the GTC pole time from last year, but yet the fastest GTE car was 3 seconds off of last year's class pole time.

They did around half the laps of Risi and were only 3 tenths back. I think that's good form regardless of what the times are.

not in a class where half a tenth decide te winner , 3 sec of real pace means those times are completely meaningless, to all but the teams out there collecting data for their setups...

You say it's meaningless but you're commenting on it. Regardless, theres little difference between the teams. 3 tenths over a 2 minute lap is nothing. It was only the first day of testing, so by todays tests, maybe you'll see the better lap times.

If you go back you'll see that this is very common for the times to be faster at the tests, than the race.

Maybe than the race but I think he's referring to qualifying times.
