Good question. Maybe as long as they have the bronze driver they are fine.

I should revise a statement I made in my previous post, but it's too late to edit that one. "If only 1 entry counts towards points, would it be the best finishing car or a pre-determined car selected by the team? In the case of the former (said latter in the original post), it would still give Audi a pretty big advantage if they have two cars and Toyota has one in some of the races."
The rules apply to all and have been agreed upon by 'all the teams', which means Toyota and Audi since this is a question of the manufacturer's title. It's obviously a move to support Toyota in return for them making this happen in the first place, but as you say, Audi still knows they're sitting in the catbird seat.

Surely you mean 2011, since it's an AM entry the car must not be to current spec. I thought the chassis was going to be the ex-Porsche Motorsport car used by Flying Lizard at La Sarthe last year?

The new rule could allow Lola and others in with a chance of some decent finishes for the championship as they have a a number of customer cars and the works teams run into trouble.

the new rule won't affect anybody other than Toyota and Audi as they're the only two entered for manufacturer points

I expect both the GP and the 1000k to run as scheduled, in the end the series and the FIA don't give a **** about what happens outside the circuit.

The teams aren't exactly saints either. Last year they started caring only after the situation got so bad that they felt their safety would be compromised.

Kind of ironic how there are billboards for the F1 race alongside the street on which people are protesting.

Elsewhere it's gonna be a great weekend at Silverstone in August with FR3.5 confirmed on the same programme as the WEC's!

That'll make it the second biggest UK race weekend to the GP I would've thought?

Reports now are that the WEC personnel in FL for Sebring had a lot of their laptops/hard-drives/TV equipment stolen before leaving for Europe.

The FIA/ACO might use this as an excuse to have races away from Sebring, my cynical mind tells me...

I was a bit confused about the "privateer trophies", but apparently in essence they are team's championships and in LMP1 privateer teams' championship:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_FI...d_Championship

This also means, that basically the only common championship for LMP1 teams is the drivers' championship. I'd honestly prefer a single constructors' championship. Specifically with that name, so it would avert the problem of manufacturer status. But I guess "everybody has to win".
