When's the last time reliability across the board has been this bad?

This is just epic; I've been watching non-stop since the flag dropped. I'm by no means a Peugeot supporter by my God how gutted must Montagny feel. I just can't imagine.

It is very strange that Peugeot is having so much reliablity issues this year: suspension mount broken from tub for #3, alternator failure for #1, broken driveshaft for #4 and blown engine for #2. It is their 4th year with the car.

What will the Peugeot #1 did? Push like hell and risk breaking down again?

No doubt. It's what I always hoped for but feel pretty horrible for them since I never thought for a min all four would have at least minor significant problems (if that makes any since).

Wowzie! What a race. So much unexpected has happened. This race has been turned on it's head. But then, this is LeMans.

I guess with 7 1/2 hours to go, Peugeot's speed potential over Audi could make for an incredibly finish with the right circumstances.

Anybody want to do the math and figure out the estimated number of laps the winning car will have at the end of the race, at this current speed? Is a record distance possible at this point?

It would appear that Audi had the wrong car but the right race, and the Peugeot the right car and wrong race.

I still think that Peugeot appear to have not learned their lesson from previous years - the lesson that you can't drive flat out for 24 hours without breaking your car. That may well be down to why all 4 Pugs hit troubles.

Also, Joest have shown this weekend just why they've won so many times at La Sarthe. They've squeezed the very best out of that Audi and never let Peugeot go, in a slower car. The gap was such that the Peugeots couldn't afford to hit any troubles - and all 4 did.

Having said this, it's still not over, because don't forget, the Audis don't have enough of a cushion to afford have any issues with either car.

I'm not sure it has been that bad, but it is worse than a few years.

Ignoring LMP2, which had several poor years. The last notable time I remember was 1991. A change in regs probably didn't help.
I have just read that 1971 only had nine finishers.

Audi bods discussing the front corner on a spare front end? Something catching on a car on the track?

Is it really? That's quite a streak! What year did the C5.R program start? 1999?

Program started in 1997, but first race was in the 1999 Daytona 24.

There were probably millions of engine failures in 1997 and 1998.
