Kind of a let down from the shots I've seen of the new Vette DP. Not too much better than the old DP's, but the greenhouse is improved.

That shot is misleading! Too bad the front end looks mushed together. Looks longer IMO. Maybe just because the bodywork is bland in comparison.

so what involvement does Pratt & Miller have with the Corvette Daytona? i am guessing it has Katech engines, what a move for GM and a coup for Grand-am to have a program like this, it looks great for a DP..http://www.grand-am.com/news/index.c...es=r&cid=50900

It looks very much like how the LMP Evo rules should have been.
But it's not really a prototype in my eyes, more a GT1 we knew from 1996-1999. If it's marketed right could be a death blow to the ALMS. |

It actually reminds me a lot of Nissan's late 90s GT1 car... 390R or whatever the name was of that one.

There are some rumblings about Ford having an interest in building their own DP-shell, but that would probably be for 2013 - maybe in combination with the introduction of turbo-engines...

Whoa, I can't believe I'm saying this but I really like it, I agree that it looks a lot like a late 90's GT1 car and that's not a bad thing at all IMO. It would look plain badass in Corvette Racing livery.
Would be fun to see this go against a GT2 Vette, I imagine it's probably not much faster, if it's actually faster at all. |

Nope. In fact, one can supposedly convert an existing chassis to the new specification, and little has been changed in the regs other than the size and shape of the greenhouse and the bodywork.
[Yes, I was skeptical that one could simply cut the top off and make it smaller, as the main roll hoop looked to me like the backbone to which everything was attached, but if the people making the rules and the cars, and not just people on the interwebs, think it can be done then I'll defer to them. ![]() |

Some angles I think it looks pretty good, and others I think it looks like a bad chop shop effort at a TransAm Corvette.
