The first bullet point in that Daily Mail article says, "Liberty Media are keen to add further races in the United States for next season". So it looks like it's in addition to Austin.

Yes, I do now remember them saying they wanted more races in America. I wonder if any race will drop out to make way though?

The timing of a Miami race would be interesting given that they are talking about reducing some of the ridiculous travel jumps between continents.

If they are going to keep Austin and Mexico together, that would put mid summer with Canada in the frame. this was rejected for Austin due to the temperature in Texas at that time of the year. I can't image being in the cockpit of an F1 car on a June/July weekend in Miami would be much better?

Miami is MUCH better than Austin that time of year. Miami has actually never broken 100F as a daily high temp, it rains before it gets that hot and the breeze actually keeps the humidity lower, well lower than most of Florida. From what I remembered pretty much March through Oct are consistent, with storms picking up the later you go in to the fall. Mid-season with Canada wouldn't even make it one of the hottest races of the year.

I remember that. They drove down a very long straight, went round a round-about and back up the other side of a very long straight, or something like that.

There was a bit more to the track than that, but the dual carriageway & roundabout was part of it. (Ran in the 'wrong' direction as a road too!)

Yes, I’ve seen the streets they used first hand on a visit to Brum in 2016. They chose a great layout for it

Whisper it softly, but I’d like to see F1 incorporate a couple of oval races.

Don't think that would work-Indy500 counted for World Drivers championship 1950-60-no driver ever scored a point at Indy & F1/F2

I think F1 cars are too fragile. The tubs of those Dallaras are seriously strong. You just have to look at Dixon's crash at last year's 500 and marvel at the fact he wasn't killed or seriously injured, like Bourdais was.

Bristol would be baaad. If anything went wrong, the laps there would be so short and fast you'd instantly wad up half the field.

I prefer the Japanese Grand Prix being at Suzuka, thank you very much.

I think it's a good thing having the separate identities; IndyCar has that mix of courses, and F1 is strictly road racing. Now if F1 wanted to try a roval again, that would be alright; the GP course at the Eurospeedway, using both Oval Turns 1 and 3, could be interesting.

Autosport has shown a possible layout for the proposed Miami GP. Those more familiar with the area might be able to tell how feasible it is.

http://classic.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/135799

The layout has 2 very tight hairpins a few right handers and 2 longish 'straights'.

So basically in the same area as the sportscar circuit. It would be great if it did happen

The proposed Miami circuit looks like it has potential. The real question for me is whether it’s an add-on or a replacement for an existing venue.

We really need a race in Africa too.

I'd like to see that.

However, in all seriousness, what about having the GP at IMS and running clockwise, for 250 miles? The F1 Indy 250.
