That looks superb, the retro logos are a nice touch.

Glad to see the teams really taking this on. The retro schemes should get more TV time.

Is it correct teams are running retro Indycar and Auscar paint schemes?

Looked more late 60's Transam (Sunoco Camaro) to me but they are all much of a muchness.

As much as I like the retro themes not sure I like the idea of tems randomly appropriating schemes from other team histories. Eg 888's take on the old HDT Marlboro livery or their Bond Sierra scheme. Hoping the cheerful chuckler gets something out of all the merch that 888 will sell.

You can't overlook the synergies with those two liveries, although the Marlboro one was a bit iffy.

The Janson one that Erebus were considering, was where I'd consider over-stepping the mark. The only thing they could draw upon was the number.

With only DJR and HRT having history in the main category that predates the V8SC era, if we teams were restricted to liveries previously carried by them, it would somewhat restrict. And commercial considerations probably rule most out.

I have no problem with teams thinking outside the box in coming up with liveries, Anyone not liking the 888 Caltex livery because it closely resembles formerly worn by a Ford team is being a bit petty.

Agreed, it is one of the best executed liveries in any of these retro looks.

DJR have it pretty easy with Shell because the logo hasn't changed but the Caltex car with the old logos looks superb and I bet Caltex are very happy with it. I'm just hoping to see Lowndesy sporting some fluro fingerless gloves or perhaps playing a keytar in the pits!

The 888 fag-packet livery tugged on the heart strings and looked oustanding on TV but you have to have a very considerate sponsor to go that far out of the usual brand guidelines.

DJR have done Tru-Blu and Greens-Tuf and a couple of Shell liveries, I don't know where to from here!

Full red of the Shell Sierra's would be good or Westpoint.

Considering Supercars themselves have promoted the meeting on their own website as:

"Supercars will be celebrating this by promoting the 2016 Wilson Security Sandown 500 as a ‘Retro Round’, with a view to bringing back the look and feel of the touring car eras of the 60s, 70s and 80s."
http://www.supercars.com/sandown/whats-on/retro-round/

I'm not sure a free-for-all with Indycar liveries, AUSCAR liveries and V8SC liveries from the 2000s is really getting across what the organisers were envisaging

Were they really this desperate for the promotional angle for the Sandown 500, and why haven't all the teams gotten behind it?

I don't think too many fans would complain if they went with a Tru-Blu or Greens-Tuf livery again.

Maybe next time, don't go the extra yards that Chaz went for authenticity purposes.

Easy. Paint it red, put the shell name down the side with some gold rims. Get the co-driver to grow a beard. Make it like 1989. Job done.

No big deal at all. I was just interested to know if it was being pitched as a motorsport retro round as opposed to a ATCC retro round.
