I think ACO/FIA and IMSA are really most interested in full season entries so don't much care about crossover - 2-3 cars for 2-3 races isn't much impact in their eyes, just ours. Look at how much IMSA protected their DP stalwarts until this year.

Nah, there aren't that many (European) one-offs/guest entries in US sportscar racing anyway so it'll potentially - if at all - hurt WEC more than WTSC. US teams that want to go to LM can do either WEC (and/or ELMS) or stay at home and lease a ACO-P2 to do the 24. If IMSA 'drifts away' from the original launched 'shared platform' they should get rid off the constructor limit. To me it seems like a small step into the right direction. |

That's kinda what I think. But I think imsa should make dpi like LMP1'L' by using non hybrids and freedom on bodywork (their oem branding). Near full width rear wings but lmp1 dimensions. Rebellion and Kolles could run the endurance rounds in America.

Interesting idea I wouldn't mind seeing that. But for the p1 privateers in WEC how do they justify a program like that with again no chance of winning. That seems to be rebellions biggest complaint right now, they have no legitimate shot at victory or even a podium.

I'm not surprise about this issue, as the ACO/WEC and IMSA have very different desires when it comes to P2 -- in a nutshell, the ACO/WEC want to drive all manufacturer involvement (money) out of P2 while IMSA wants to attract it to the class as a means of sustaining an all pro top prototype class.

So long as the factories are there they haven't got a hope in hell of that in any case, so I highly doubt it matters all that much.

Same as when Audi had the R8. Even when fielded by semi-works teams, they usually cleaned house up until it's dying day in competition.

Pegasus Racing is set to continue running Mics. Excellent news as that'll continue to ensure the prevention of all-Dunlop LMP2. And with Rebellon now running Dunlops against the Michelin armada in LMP1 both primary classes have actual competition.

Krohn and Idec Sport are also running Michelins in ELMS and, in Krohn’s case, also at Le Mans.

Yup
I was curious IDEC didn't lodge LM entry. French team too so the likelihood of at least bottom reserve slot would've been higher than direct rejection. But just read they were always aiming for the 2017 race. Alrighty |

(same question as in LM entry list threat)
Are current, grandfathered P2 coupes entered in ELMS/AsLMS/IMSA in 2017 eligible for LM next year? |

Didn't see this posted- https://twitter.com/ryohirakawa/stat...50365262643206 Toyota's Ryo Hirakawa (super gt) confirmed in Thiriet by TDS Racing team running elms. Looks like Toyota is going to build him up with some p2 running for a possible spot in their team in the future.

It's been mentioned in the LM Entry List thread, but I would agree with that. Hirakawa looks like a good bet for at least an LMP1 test drive in the near future.

Not sure how this is going to work since the new cars should be significantly quicker than the current ones. http://sportscar365.com/industry/201...unced-in-july/ |

BoP will be adjusted accordingly. The gap won't be very dramatic. It allows for one extra year for amortizaton of the old spec, and reduces initial impact on demand from manu.

Only problem with that assertion is that the factory cars were the only new spec cars faster than Pescarolo, and that was only for the combined ILMC/LMS rounds (LM*, Imola, Spa, Silverstone)
*Le Mans was non-championship for LMS in 2011. |

No BoP for grandfathered LMP2 engines in 2017. So the Gibson-engined cars should have a significant advantage.
