Great exposure for the event. Will be able to set my Tivo to record the entire race and watch it back when I get home

The beauty of having free access to online coverage as well.

Looks like Radio Le Mans crew will be retained for both the trackside and tv aspects of the coverage.

"The English Radio Le Mans commentary team is also expected to return, with Seven likely to use a combination of the internationals and local talent for its broadcast."

Maybe not as you hope

and you have made the assumption that the live stream will be different to the Ch 7 coverage. Unknown at this stage

I wouldn't have thought you would be able to do a commercial TV production justice by using a commentary platform that is simulcast on radio without ads & primarily aimed at their (Radio Le Mans) European and American audience.

Great news nonetheless, and kind of out of the blue.

It's definitely good news - good on James O'Brien for getting the deal done and good on 7 for picking up an event that's growing in stature.

Do the hotels and other accommodation crank up the prices on the B12 weekend too?

Great news, can't wait.
Anything said about Saturday practice and qualifying being
televised ?
Hope the Radio Le Mans crew get the commentary gig.

if they do its not to the same level

The room that we have got before for the 1000km race was $1760 for 4 nights.
Can get it for next years 12 hour for $1,150
Can get it for the weekend after the 12 hour for the same price ($1,150)

Great news and the snowball effect of hopefully the TV deal bringing sponsors to the event, sponsors wanting to appear on cars etc.

So... if the grid capacity gets reached... will the organisers start bumping competitors from the big boys class, or start taking away the invitationals?

Will we see another huge amount of entries early on, the organisers slap on an entry freeze and then hit a brick wall ?

Maybe there's a market in buying up entries now and selling them to unsuccessful entrants later

No doubt we will see heaps of entry's early on but I would hope from last years experience that once they reach 55 - they still accept entries on reserves list.

From memory it was only the MARC Focus' that caused the entry freeze in 2014.

Surely the best option is to take entries from everyone until the closing date, and then select the best 55 starters from there if there is more than 55 entries, and obviously have a few reserves named as well. The 2014 system of 'freezing' the entry didn't really work out very well.

I don't think you would want to automatically just cull the invitationals when a major player like Fiat is willing to put $$$ into the event.

Though I haven't been to B12 for a couple of years, the prices were normal, but there was a minimum stay of 4 nights.
