Taprobane should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
But Champ car races aren't Indycar races...? Surely?

I don't know, I have to say I'm no a hug student of American racing but it's obvious to me that Mike's team aren't a strong one.

Looking on their website it seems that since 2000 they have won one race and managed 10 top five finishes, hardly a top line team.

I don't think anyone is seriously going to argue that Mike is in the stronger team of the two are they?

I really agree with you. The commentators pretending the Indycar is not a continuation of its past series and therefore not counting these wins is just criminal. There is a great website, http://www.champcarstats.com/ Which includes stats from all the incarnations of the top series of American Open Wheel Racing. These are the stats they should go by.

But my point is that in Champ Cars they don't use Indycars so therefore being a strong team with the Champ Cars has no real bearing now.

One thing is for sure, Mike having Scheckter as a team mate is going to move the team in the right direction, i rate Mike but i really rate Tomas very highly, its a very good pairing. Watch out Danica.

DRR's Short track package has been a good one, and team manager Larry Curry sat everyone on the team down for a "Come to Jesus" meeting following the Texas race to get everyone on the same page when preparing their race cars so that they are set up properly and accurately...

It certainly showed at Iowa, because both Mike and Thomas were able to pass cars and they moved up through the field fairly well.

In fact, they were the two "Best Movers" of the race from their starting spots to the final results:

Mike - 19th to 8th
Thomas - 16th to 6th

DanicaFan:

This was no "Fluke"

Conway had a fast car and drove it well throughout the day...

Face it...he beat her in this one...

With Danica starting P10 and Mike P11, Richmond is surely going to be another interesting race as far as "Danica VS Mike" is concerned.

The improvement of Dreyer & Reinbold since the arrival of Tomas Scheckter in the team is indeed impressive.

Could have been on the podium but his guys seemed slow on that last stop as he followed Wilson in but came out with 4 guys in between them.

So now after Watkins Glen, the score is

Danica VS Mike -
(enter number here that's so huge I lost count):2

Just to clarify things, how big is Danica's lead at the time?

This isn't about a score, we never said Mike as a rookie would beat Danica over a season, merely that DanicaFan's claim that Mike wouldn't record a single higher finish all season was crazy considering Mike's previous record.

Looks like I was wrong on that one. I am completely shocked by this latest race finish. The caution coming out hurt Danica's pit strategy.

Didn't you say that last time?

Oh, and I noticed you were convinced Danica would drive around Mike at the first corner but having watched lap 1 Mike ended up in 5th and Danica in 11th...

Your predictions seem to be rather inaccurate...

I said it in the Watkins Glen thread and I'll say it here...

Conway was a "Contender" throughout the race...at one point, he climbed to 2nd and raced there for many laps...

Danica dropped like a rock early in the race and, even if her pit strategy had not been foiled by the yellow, clearly did not have the car to race in contention today...

Conway simply outdrove her and outclassed her on this day....

As i said earlier in the thread, Mike will be outpacing Danica by mid season, no crystal ball needed really, just a look at his CV. Imagine if he was driving an AGR car.

Classic - no punches pulled there

Actually I need to add the other line you used in the other thread, it's the one I like the most
  • Conway was a Contender
  • Patrick was a Pretender

Now, do you mean a blind squirrel will not finish ahead of Danica again, or that you won't be found wrong again as you are not going to threepeat said assertion?

Whilst I'm at the Edmonton race, I'll have to buy a Conway cap or t-shirt if such things are available. I never buy merchandise (people occasionally buy me it, but I cannot stomach the prices), but this would prove irresistible, I feel.

It is tempting to see if I could get some kind of of Danica vs Mike t-shirt made at a printing shop before the race. Something really OTT and melodramatic: something making it out to be the Clash of the Ages.

Everyone else at the race is going to wonder what in the fudge it is all about, but that is the fun of it, .
