19 nights away from base in hotels. Even if you can get good rates you'd be looking at a minimum of c£100 per person per day for the trip.

The team will need to be fed and accomodated and all paid for in Euro's, so whilst there may be some savings in transport costs, the accomodation and living costs will be massive.

For 3 separate race meetings you would still be looking at between 12 to 15 nights away, so the diff is only 4 to 7 nights and 4 channel crossings less + flights ect. It would only be about 4-7k extra spread over 3 rounds(not taking into account the fewer crossings) so at 50k per round not a massive problem. Giving the championship a lot more respect.

Litespeed are looking to expand their operation considerably next season.

I believe the International Class cars will be Dallaras and VW-powered. The faithful SLC National Class car(s) will continue to have to control Mugen-Honda engines, naturally. Both will be supplied through NBE.

After 2009, you wouldthink Litespeed must be Mygales?

There is also talk that West Tec have agreed an International Class engine deal and have backingto support drivers. Also a rumour they are buying another team who's team boss is no longer there.

Cost cutting measures should be introduced to F3, costs are just crazy! £500k-750k per season is just pure madness. I dont see any reason why a season in British F3 cannot be done for 200k by also limiting how many sets of tyres they use and limit of testing days.

They all ready do.. Trouble is F3 is seen as a development formula?? This means that teams can develop there own components to make a car faster.. Development cost money. ie Aero- Wind Tunnels, Suspension- 7 posters rigs and expensive software. Different suspensions, mono, dual or dual + 3rd (and well paid design engineers) expensive chassis sim programmes ect. Also engine development has meant major engine lease costs £100k+ per season!! This is what the purists want.. IMO all parts should be homologated by manufacturer and the engine regulations overhauled.

It's January 7th and at last we have an official BF3 calendar! Link

British F3 calendar 2010
3/5 April - Oulton Park
1 /2 May – Silverstone GP (supporting FIA GT)
22/23 May – Magny Cours (supporting Superleague Formula)
29/30 May – Hockenheim (supporting ADAC GT)
17/18 July – Rockingham
30/31 July – Spa (supporting FIA GT 24)
7/8 August – Thruxton
14/15 August – Silverstone GP
29/30 August – Snetterton
25/26 September – Brands Hatch GP

In fact, I don't think there's much we didn't know already, but it's interesting that both races at Silverstone are on the GP circuit.

That's because the International Circuit is no longer an option.

Really happy about Magny Cours here, having raced there for three years with the Euro F3 Open.

SRO are slipping!
Only 3 weekends clash with the BTCC. I do find it strange that they seem incapable of planning a season with sensible gaps between meetings, instead we have massive breaks then 3 meeting in successive weekends. surely it would be better for the series, teams and sponsors to spread teh races more equally throughout the season, and avoid clashes with other major UK series.

This looks like a very good thought out calender by the SRO, all be it a bit late(congradulations). Would still like to see a couple more rounds although 3 races per weekend is a good compromise.

I'm a noob, this is slightly off topic, but I'm not sure where else to post

Can someone please send a link to a download (or the actual documents) of the technical and sporting regulations for F3 (I'm after 2010, but failing that 2009).

Please help?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, amotorsport86, and well done on focusing on F3!

I should be able to help you, but really need you to be more specific. If you're after British F3 you should be able to get last year's Regulations by going to www.barc.net and then foraging around. However, it doesn't seem to be working at the moment, so I'll make some enquiries and update this post on Monday.

If you want to know about F3 as a whole, it's an FIA situation and that really is a rabbit warren to negotiate. I've done it before, so here's the link for the 2009 version: http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-public.nsf/C490A40ACC6611C1C1257543002A2B71/$FILE/Trad.VL-R%C3%A8gleTech_F3_2009_Fran%C3%A7ais+Anglais_18.11.2008.pdf

You also need the International Sporting Code, which is here: http://www.fia.com/en-GB/sport/regul...tingCodeA.aspx

That first link doesn't look like it's going to work kusy by clicking on it, but it does if you cut and paste it. Sorry. Good luck!

More serious than silly, Jay Bridger has been confirmed at Litespeed for a second season.

As I think I predicted, he has switched from a Mygale Mugen-Honda to a Dallara Volkswagen.

Another new team for British F3 - Sino Vision Racing, using ex-Manor Motorsport cars and with help from them. Link.

It's all looking very positive at the moment, although news of a few more driver signings would be welcome.

No sooner said than done. This week's Autosport has news of several signings.

Although it's long been expected, the most significant is confirmation that the reigning Formula BMW Europe champion, Felipe Nasr, has signed with Double Racing. He will run alongside Carlos Huertas and Daisuke Nakajima, who are staying with the team after their rookie seasons last year.

Elsewhere, Gabriel Dias, who was runner-up in the National Class last year with T-Sport, will switch to the International Class with Hitech Racing.

There will probably be more news as the Autosport Show progresses.

Someone had mentioned it, but it's worth repeating because of what happened in the Macau FBMW race last year.

Felipe Nasr's regular team-mate couldn't join him for some reason, so Will Buller steeped into the breach.

He was fractionally faster than Nasr in free practice and qualifying and won the race. I don't know if there was a particular reason for it, but Felipe was only 4th, some eight seconds back, which rather upset the form book, not to mention a couple of gentlemen who had flown out especially to get Nasr's signature on a management contract.
