All club racers do it for fun, the reward is the pleasure of owning, preparing and driving a nice race car. 10K Graham I think you got off lightly.

Yes Ken but you did incur a lot of expensive body damage.

I'm intrigued by this mysterious 'mini enthusiasts award', what's the betting it's an industrial sized roll of purple gaffer tape?!?

As a reader of the regulations and as i understood it, 'awards per round
Subject to numbers of finishers in each class, trophies to:-
Class winners if 3 or more starters in class
2nd in class if 5 or more starters in class
3rd in class if 8 or more starters in class
Classes where thre are less than 3 starters will be amalgamated'

I have been to some of the awards this year and am sure that some drivers have received awards that do not follow the regs (which i know is the clubs right to do)

Rod and the rest of the commitee work really hard for the drivers benefits to get extra bonus trophies and give some people chances to get awards that they may not usually find themselves getting.

I am not sure of the Tin Tops regs but i know at the last Tin Top meeting there were 2 cars in one class and they both received trophies for 1st and
2nd respectively. There does not appear to be the same wording for awards with TT as DMN.

I do however think that the last part of the regs about classes with less than 3 starters should be amalgamated should be enforced. At the last round of TT if (DMN) awards rules/regs were in force. In race one a guest car finished first, a T1 second and a C third. As this is a series then trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd would probably go to these 3 cars. If it was based on classes only, TG drivers would not be eligible for trophy as only 2 entered. There were only 2 C cars and only 1 E car so they would also not qualify. 5 T1s so 1st and 2nd, 6 T2s so 1st and 2nd, 9 T3s so 1st, 2nd and 3rd. There were also 3 Ds so a trophy for 1st and 4 TBs so another 1st only. Still a fair few trophies.

One other thing maybe there should be a trophy or token for the highest charger (Mark Hosken does it for the VAG cars) the person that makes up the most places in a race, i know the driver of the race isnt neccessarily the person that does this

Not really, Chris. MN feature on an 'experimental' live televised (no mention of channel) event with DMN and Intermarques featured. 2 x 10 min. qualy and races but fair premium on entry fees to cover the TV. Encouraging comment ' we wanted big grids' .

I suppose ITV are looking for something to fill the hole in their schedule since they lost F1? Our sponsors will be pleased!

To be honest, considerably more than a DMN event.

DMN at Silverstone GP was £210 for two 15 minutes races, Ken has not said how much the Minis paid in July.

To be fair it cant be compared like for like. July event had live bands each night and activities for 4 days plus covered work areas all supplied, within the entry fee. Was a few days holiday.
For me one the best events of the year.

Agreed, it was on the same billing as a 'premium' event and no doubt attracted a big crowd which, combined with the excellent tv coverage would make the entry less of an issue for someone with a sponsors name on the side of the car. For those of us without sponsors, I would suggest that televised races don't really make a large amount of sense as they only represent increased costs without any additional 'value' (other than appealing to our vanity!).

That said I've not seen the MN piece so don't know what sort of extra costs we're talking about?

Means getting those missing sponsors will be a lot easier, which will then decrease costs
