If a GTE McLaren doesn't come first, this will be the first carbon tub GTE car.

I love it. It looks really purposefull. With these kind of earodynamics, I think it's sure it'll come to Le Mans.

I'm choosing to be optimistic that even a mock-up will be there. It could be interesting if Ganassi is out of the championship hunt, does Ford want his guys to run the new car at Petit to give it a good shakedown and let the ACO get an idea of what the car can do and get a non-WEC invite. But any chance the ACO would deny Ford, really??

Can we fire the ad guys that think cars should be covered with terrible, loud, obnoxious music? Course if it's a computer rendering I guess the faked audio doesn't matter much.

To be fair a lot of people kept jumping on the EcoBoost idea thinking that turbo'd engines weren't allowed, especially with BMW swapping because the rules make turbo a pita. You do have to take a LOT of jalopnik with a grain of salt and try to find the few decent writers from the scattergun, throw 100 ideas at the wall and see what sticks guys. Ford at Petit isn't a big stretch, I won't expect it but would consider it a great bonus for the race.

Well done Ford, you've made a car that looks moodern but still has hints to the original GT40.
Although it would be great if the car is ready for Petit, I think it depends if Ganassi are in the hunt for the championship as even though they are a large professional team, running the new GT along with their DP's could be a distraction for their championship fight. |

Ganassi has about 4 IndyCar teams worth of personnel with not much else to do that time of the year anyways.

They've done an excellent job of makingit look like a previous model and like nothing you've ever seen before at the same time. It's clearly the Ford GT's successor, you can see that, but from certain angles it looks like a concept car.

The Gulf livery on that car, or rather that car in Gulf livery+simply gorgeous.
The vents in the taillights? I can't wait to see flames shoot out when the thing downshifts at night. I don't see any way Ford can Not race the car. They didn't really need it for purely commercial purposes--they could have pushed the pumped-up Mustangs harder for sheer money-making. I'd say they built this car because they Want to go racing, and needed something besides a Mustang, which, IRS aside, is an overweight throwback living on buzz created in the mid '60s. To face off against Corvette and Ferrari, Aston and (hopefully) Viper they needed a better base car, so this got built. Petit in 2015 or not, I am pretty sure we will see this car in action against C7.Rs and 458 Italias, both in North America and in Europe. |
