Top speed might pip a bit higher than 205mph this year with Tertre Rouge being opened up a little more.

I think the torque figure on the Peugeot is a bit above what it makes (but it all depends if they get the bigger restrictor), but there is no way that the RS Spyder only made/makes 500 hp.

Mike's going to be busy with his book for a while, according to his website.

Shame the pictures are small. Definately an Audi engine in there though, still has the chrome top.

im very interested in that car's performance. THe Charouz Lola was impressive, wasnt it? Hoping that Audi power could prove a real threath to the french LMP1's

Can't wait to see it race. Finally a factory level gasoline engine, but not chassis. But still better than before.

One thing that I did notice from the pictures posted there is that they are using the same electronics that the R8 had. Also does anyone know if they are running with the same transmission as the R8? If they are this car is really going to be hard to beat if it gets the right drivers in it because it will more than likely have the same reliability, speed, and fuel mileage that the R8 had.

The brief text in Mike's article was perhaps even more revealing about Audi's involvement in this project than the images of the car itself; "RCE's Sam Collins indicated that recent conversations with Wolfgang Ullrich noted that the Lola-Audi project is certainly considered an active one, and in the same vein as the R10 and DTM programs." Sounds like Audi's involvement is more akin to Acura's relationship with their three ALMS teams than a Judd or AER type customer engine deal!

Would be great, if they'd make Peugeot earn it.

Thats excactly what they intent to do to try and prove the diesel formula right. I would be surprised if they can make up the 2 secs a lap gap to the petrol cars that was apparent at Monza though.

I'd like to hear what Ullrich thinks of the Lola chassis too, although in interviews he sounds more like an engine man

Overall this is a very tactical but classy move from the man. Good for interest in the racing

One cannot ignore the impact that drivers have on the outcome. While Fassler is strong, he is not near any of the pilots in the Pugs nor the R10s. The other two Swiss Spirit drivers are likely to be even further behind (at least a second a lap).

If Audi are looking to have real comparison, then stick McNish in for a race or two (like they did with Oreca). Then we will see the real pace of the petrol machine.

Or Frank Biela. He is pretty much unemployed for most of the season. Or Pierre Kaffer.
