This is not just about Williams - the whole of F1 is on a knife edge.

Some thoughts...
Looks to me like Williams has been bought by someone who clearly wanted to save the team, preseve the name and by some opinions, the price paid is quite high bearing in mind the uncertain return. This is someone with an F1 passion and knowledge of the history of F1 who has bought Williams IMO. The ruthless buyers would only have had to waited 12-18 months and (IMO) allegedly Williams would have burnt through Latifi's loan and be out of cash and possibly into administration which results in a fire sale. Hence the speed with which the sale was concluded. As for the new TP - I am going to out on a limb and suggest Jost Capito (currently at VW), he was at McLaren very briefly and for whatever reason it didn't work out, perhaps he has unfinished business in F1? Also, VW are rumoured to be taking interest in F1. From Joe Saward.. Anyway, the best way to cause controversy appears to be to say anything bad about electric mobility and thus it is interesting to see Volkswagen’s big boss Herbert Diess last week saying that Formula E, in which Volkswagen runs team under the Audi and Porsche banners, only makes snese if there is “carbon-free electricity” soon. He noted that Germany does not intend to exit coal-powered electricity in 2038 and said that as far as he is concerned “F1 becoming CO2-neutral, using synthetic fuels, is much more excitement, fun, racing experience, tech-competition than Formula E driving a few laps in city centres in gaming mode.” This presumably means that there is some potential for Volkswagen brands to be in Formula 1 in the future, if the sport chooses the right paths for regulations in the future. So how about a future Williams/VW tie up - which one Jost Capito would be well placed to secure. If the new investors are serious about taking Williams back to the top, they will kmow that they will not achieve this with a customer engine and lookinh at the Daimer/Mercedes postioning at RP/Aston Martin, you would reckon that Williams will be 3rd in the pecking order for the forseeable future. Other option is some sort of Manor F1 type revival as James Matthews (and his father) have strong links with Manor going back to his racing days - hence the Graham Lowden connection. |

Ohh - a VW to F1 rumor! Haven't had one of them for a few weeks. I suppose if it is repeated often enough, at some point it will be true.

No surprise, Vettel does at least have an interest in F1 history

Maybe Vettel is going to go historic F1 racing after he leaves Ferrari?

I think he has a better chance of winning in FW14B than his current Ferrari

Mansell liked the active suspension because it suited his more aggressive driving style. He won nine races out of 16 races that year and Patrese got nine podiums including a win. It certainly was a runner.

Williams heritage should be able to help with the active ride. The 14B's system was a fairly simple one, not like the Lotus' system. |

The active suspension on the Williams certainly seems comparable to Merc DAS system, although I don’t think even have built a car that can match the great Williams FW14B

The Williams FW14B won 10 races out of 16 in 1992 and so far, the Mercedes F1 W11 has won 6 races in what looks like being a 17 race season. |

I suspect the Mercedes might win a few more races this year, unless it is found guilty of something, which in view of recent history could happen.

But it's not a freebie deal isn't it? If Williams became a Renault satellite team, IMO, it would be a lot better for them in terms of finances and Renault can give the new owners a helping hand in re-building the team.

What’s that smashing sound I just heard? I know it’s the sound of Mr Storey throwing a stone through his glass house!
