I guess it’s because people view as some as being more worthy of a drive. But honestly I think this subjects been done to death and everyone is entitled to their opinion. |

Btc switching to Swindon engines for this year. This quote confused me "Our change to Swindon for 2021 was a collaborative decision by the whole team based on a number of performance and strategic considerations, including the forthcoming 2022 Hybrid era."
Isn't this the last year of Swindon? So sticking with the Honda engines wouldn't make much difference. Or is it just pr guff filling some space in a release? |

M-Sport are supplying the engines from 2022.
Cosworth are supplying the Hybrid system. |

Or, possibly, they just mean that they are taking a gamble on their providing an improved engine for this season, but that if it does not work out for the best, that it will only be for the one year because they will have to change to the new hybrid unit in 2022. |

Or it could simply be that Swindon offered a better deal.

Saving money. Grahame Chilton's cheque for Tom was substantial and went a lot further than just putting Tom in a car. NBE lumps don't come cheap. TOCA units in comparison are. I'd imagine service life on the Swindon one is considerably longer making it cheaper too.

How much difference is there between each engine in terms of performance and price?

Not sure about price but when Eurotech were running them they were getting great results over the Dynamics cars in 2017, so I wouldn’t say there was any disadvantage of using the Swindon engine now.

Do all users of the same engine type have the same boost level?
In which case, the TOCA engine is represented across the entire grid so is less likely to have boost reductions, where as the Honda is up at the front of the grid so may get a reduction if the Dynamics cars start developing a slight gap over the others?? |

I think this is one of the reasons why Infinity was so good last year, it obviously has a well sorted chassis, but its engine is no slouch either. Again, id like to know if the TOCA engines are adjusted per team, I would guess that isnt the case, (but I dont know).

I seem to recall the regs were changed a few years ago to apply BOP based on engine/chassis combination so for example a TOCA engine in a Civic would be treated differently to a TOCA engine in a VW.
