I wonder might they be looking at the full HPD package ? I reckon there must be a couple of chassis available , as JAS were looking at running 2 last season , but that didnt happen .

de Ferran and Andretti must have their old ARX-01 chassis lying around somewhere... and let's not forget, the tub is basically a Courage LC70/LC75, and there are some of those tubs gathering dust around the place. If RSC is right, Highcroft's car from last year actually raced in P1 in 2008 and 2009 for Oreca and Signature-Plus as a Courage-Oreca with a Judd engine.

Why, I wonder, seeing as they only went and WON the title with that car...
I wonder what they have bought??? Interesting times. |

I see your point , maybe a newer engine installation might be the differance in a chassis change , but I dont know that .
Why would they sell their car , if it was so good and won the championship ? That Acura has won a lot more than any Lola has for a start . I think the HPD is a better package . I was under the impression that they were intending a class change to GT , I thought I did read that someplace , but again , Im not sure about that . Why sell a championship winning car ? |

Autosport has a small piece on Strakka's plans, and they say that the team will indeed have the HPD V6 engine fitted to the same chassis they raced this year. A more interesting snippet of information though is that HPD are looking at returning to LMP1 in 2012 and Strakka are planning to move back to LMP1 with the new HPD package if that happens.
Also, Danny Watts has a contract with the team for the next two seasons. |

By 2012 you would think any HPD P1 chassis would have to be a heavily revised version of the curent car or all new to be competitive so would be a significant investment for HPD.

Acid09 post from another thread :
http://www.motorsport-total.com/mehr..._11010604.html Motorsport-total reports that HPD is looking to race at least two ARX-01d in Europe this year, one of them raced by the Strakka, the second team has already been signed and will be revealed in due time. Furthermore, HPD is working on a new version of the ARX-01e LMP1, coming with improved aerodynamics, a new gearbox, new suspension and much more. Wirth says the car is planned to be raced in the ALMS and at Le Mans (Highcroft presumably?) To top it all off, Wirth Research is already working on a LMP1 coupe for the 2012 season that will hit the track next December. Im thinking about RML too . |

Seems like the on-off-on again affair of Luc Alphand Aventures is now OFF.
http://www.endurance-info.com/versio...ance-5977.html I don't claim to understand completely the statement in the article. It seems like they were annoyed at the ACO's decision to can GT1 at the end of this year. It is too expensive to adapt the cars and so that is it. So what of this late decision to allow GT1 cars into GT-AM or whatever next year? Does that apply to Le Mans too or just the series'? Either way hopefully we will see them back in 2012. |

Talk about the polar opposite of 'stars aligning'
Luc Alphand in a Corvette GT1 run in GT-AM just screams out as obvious to me Never mind, at least we will hopefully get to see a Saleen or two redifine 'endurance' |

Alphand retired from racing, he wouldn't have driven himself anyway.

Was reading that thinking they could've raced in FIA GT1 as they have done before but continued reading and not a fan of the series for various reasons. Shame he doesnt want to race in GT-AM.

Apologies if this has already been noted, but DAILY SPORTSCAR have observed from the 2011 sporting and tech regs that the race length for each round of the Le Mans Series will be 6 hours (including Spa, which will still be labelled a 1000km race).

Looks like CRS Racing will be back in the LMS next year in Pro-Am with their Ferrari F430s.

In the USA during 2009, the Corsa Motorsport Zytek 09S became the first hybrid-engined prototype ever to win a podium place at a race for Le Mans-style cars. However, this was achieved with road car component based technology and subsequent changes to the regulations have now enabled Zytek to create a pure racing hybrid system which will be used in the Rangoni Zytek 09SH. If I'm reading the DSC report correctly, the hybrid system might be seen in the car until after the start of the season? |

Thanks for that list Carsten. Looking very nice indeed.
Just a small bit of detail. Autosport mag says the ProSpeed 911 will be piloted by Holzer and Goossens this year. Goossens replacing Westbrook due to sponsorship money. |

Thanks for the list Carsten.
Will be an interesting season. Hopefully there will be a nice entry list for Estoril and I can get myself some Pescarolo merchandise. Real shame that Luc hasn't moved on to GT2. I guess maybe the fact he retired, after his accident, has made him lose a bit of the interest in the sport. |
