Full explanation - I was riffing of a Tweet/X Albon made last year signing for Williams, that itself poked fun at the fiasco surrounding Oscar Piastri, whom Alpine had announced he was driving for only for him to rather bluntly refute it.

This is actually correct we always had this amount of teams in USA across both ALMS and Daytona Racing Series. 30+30.

Look at results from Indianapolis though, 80% of the field is GT3 cars, LMP3 cars, Spec Racing cars. You only have 10 cars that would make 1998 rules. Everything else is not really sports cars.

I'm glad you're enjoying it!

IMSA is at an all-time high - does that make the series perfect? Far from it. But it has made huge strides from a decade ago and for the majority of the (not so) average fans, a joy to watch (check the grid walks and attendance numbers if you're not convinced).

The fact that the grid will be oversubscribed and the entry will be announced at the preceding season's finale, is uncharted territory for sportscar racing.

You have a choice in watching or not.

How are either of those any more spec than GTP? You build it, homologate it and race. That's it

I think they'll start the clear the grid announcements soon. According to the track they're selling faster than any year before and expected to be packed on Friday and Saturday.

I wonder what the Porsche and Caddy are upgrading exactly? Also Ferrari and Peugeot are nearly certain to have upgrades. So this ruleset of keeping costs lower by locking in the car homologation seems to be working

The second WTR/Andretti got that second car, I think we knew they were done with it all. That deal about Daytona and the tire pressure kinda left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. Shame, that.

But, hopefully, they will be back with that Alpine LMDh in '25. Get a second chance to prove they can get the job done. Just call it "unfinished business", if you know what I mean...

Give it a year or so.

As for MSR, the long wait is over, at least they can now be open about next year and what will potentially replace IMSA GTP.

I hope that wherever they go next year, the tyre regulations are read carefully.
