Pike should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Just a few points from yesterday - show was good and Wembley a superb venue. The "restrooms" were by the far the cleanest and smallest que of any stadium hosted event I have been to (FA Cup finals etc). However the food is way overpriced, the caterers inside Wembley are charging way over the odds for what looked look pretty dire food (only listening to comments and having sneaky look at other peoples!). I believe once inside the venue all catering outlets are run by Wembley stadium - I remember there being a fuss made when the FA cup final took place there in May due to prices.

I thought it may have been nice if they kitted all the marshals there out with the same overalls/coats as per the RAC a few years back at the GP, given its a massive TV thing and they surely could have put some sponsorship on them?

It was nice to be there for the first one at Wembley and to see it live but I wont be forking out for another ticket next year.

Just how did they maange to get marshals post G on a track that small?..........

Yes it was good to see a three-page article about us hard-working marshals, but surely they could have come up with a better headline than "Wear Orange, Get In Free!" It's not exactly the most positive of recruitment ideas is it? Yes of course we're short of numbers and need new marshals to sign up, but I would prefer it if they weren't joining just to get a free track-side view point! Although having said that, the article itself has been well written.

The crowd didn't turn out in their thousands like I was expecting, which was a bit disappointing. I know that I'm biased, but if the event was staged in Croke Park in Dublin (capacity of over 82,000) I would expect a sell-out. Just look how many spectators turned up in the cold wind and pouring rain to watch Rally Ireland!

And to finish on a more positive note - I was up on the top shelf of the stadium too, but the view was superb from up there. It would have frozen the 'you-know-whats' off a brass monkey, but a bit of shivering was a small price to pay for being able to watch such a spectacle. So many congratulations to the organising team and most importantly, the marshals!

Overalls were provided, Dickies in orange and various sizes 42 to 50 plus I believe. they had "Want to be a marshal on the back panel, ask me" and Volunteers in motorsport down the leg......too much extra and additional clothing required the assumed sizes to be correct.

Well, I had a bloody great time on post B! the first corner, Thanks to all on my post, I'm definitely putting my name down for next year, I don't care what others say, Marshalling different types of event gives you more experience, makes a nice change and keeps you on your toes!

The front splitter of the car was jammed on the tarmac lip of the track and the rear of the car stuck in the mud. If we had done a straight snatch it would have done a massive amount of damage to the car and possibly to the track. As for letting the F1 out whilst we did the recovery, we couldn't as we had opened up the barriers onto the outer track so that the JCB could manouevre into place.
Mike,

Apologies, I was still in spectator mode and by no means was I having a go at the guys down there who gave it a go before calling for le tracteur. With the snatch, and Bordais buggy recovery by the bridge earlier it was obvious who was calling the shots, and unfortunately it wasn't the chaps & chapesses in orange!

What happened to the new overalls then? You all appear to be wearing the usual ones!

Hope you all enjoyed it, and hopefully I'll be joining you next year. Well we can dream can't we?

EDIT : Sorry, can't read today for some reason.

looking at the overalls I think most of us opted to stick with our own but at least the effort was there

Had a Great time with Peachy, Big Paul & other brother Grim on "post G for Goofy" had our fair share of the action over the weekend helping Le trackmen!! that snatch was a bit of a pain in the backside as mentioned previously, nice to see superDan in the thick of it as usual

had an end of season party feel to it & will deffo put my name down again next year dispite the cold

thanks to all for making it a great weekend

Can't edit my other post to add that the rest of my decent "non-racing" photos are now posted on my Flickr page as well (www.flickr.com/photos/algreen - click on the thumbnails to enlarge, click on 'all sizes' for even bigger sizes)

Great pics Al, as for the caption on the one of me & Dee holding my Guernsey flag, I hope you are not serious, ''Channel Island marshals supporting..???''
I'll give you a clue, last 3 WTCC years? I met Andy and got to sign it, I am chuffed to bits!

I tried on the supplied overals and I found them short but wide in the body but long arms & legs so I changed back to my comfey ones. It didn't really make much difference as I had a fleece and or my coat on top anyway.

Stig as is the real Stig Blomqvist. Yes he was there. What a vehicle that Quattro is. Not an Audi fan but I think any true motor enthusiast has to admire what Audi did with that car it got people thinking........

Started watching it on Sky last night (Monday), couldn't believe how deserted Wembley was, and how bad the commentary was - Silly Old Duffer.
Fortunately I found it on Eurosport as well and then enjoyed it a lot more, with a proper Commentator.

I was reliably informed there are quite a few of them, this particular one was number 18.

I've just read in a BMMC Newsletter that the ROC will be at Wembley for the next two years.
I guess the positive feedback from the 2007 event will mean a lot more Marshals applying to work at the 2008 event.
