supercarS7 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

I don't think speed is the greatest measure of who has more quality teams. But using that comparison for the 2007 season, the tracks on which both LMS and FIA GT raced, the FIA GT cars had the faster pole time:

Silverstone: 1:43.504 (Hezemans) v. 1:44.755 (Team Modena)
Monza: 1:44.945 (Wendlinger) v. 1:45.443 (Ortelli)
Spa: 2:14.554 (Hezemans) v. 2:14.715 (Team Oreca)

I agree that qualifying speeds are not the best indicator, but I do feel you are going in the right direction when you refer to "more quality teams" in your first sentence. I believe the top teams are equal in both FIA-GT and LMS but there are just more of them in FIA-GT. It would have been nice to see LAA show up for Spa this year as they would have had a great chance to win with a similar line-up as that which they used last year.

If you compare qualifying times you should also check out the various track conditions

I am still wondering if GO TO ONE Charouz Racing will actually enter two Moslers or that they will also put the drivers in 1 car, considering the trouble they have had so far.

Melo & Salo to join Vilander and Bruni in the #50 car. A very formidable line-up indeed. See here:

Great to see Russo getting a much-deserved crack in one of the AF Corse cars as a reward for strong performance in the Advanced Engineering car so far this year.

Presently, there are only 11 GT1s on the entry list and two of those seem dubious to me, the DKR Corvette and the Reiter Engineering Lambo as they don't seem to be actively recruiting first rate pilots. Does anyone know how Peter Kox's leg is? If he's not available, don't you think they'll drop out?

That would be sad if the whole entry would rely on 1 driver.

The whole programme is built around Rusinov and has its focus on the LMS. There is enough money to do the full FIA GT season as well, but this has less priority than LMS.

For now I think they will show up...but I would not be too surprised if this car is a late withdrawal.

hard to say which line-up is stronger ..
#1 Vitaphone or #6 Phoenix ..

too bad Lamy can't stay with pug team mate Sarrazin .. but i guess he still has strong links with Larbre ..

Lets hope the DKR Engineering C6R gets a stronger result than in 2006 if they compete. They had a good amount of problems during the 24 Hours. They are also on Pirellis now as opposed to Dunlops in 06'.

Also, I am surprised Larbre doesnt run 2 cars like the FFSA. They after all arent running the Argentine 550.....

and Dani, the 6 car and 1 car are close on lineups, but the nr1 has a consistently strong lineup. Most likely you will see more drivers racing longer in the 6 car to minimize the seat time of a driver compared to the 1 car IMHO.

the Phoenix squad is a little bit stronger, they won last year and know each others very well, even so JD Deletraz is slower tahn the other 3 (Hezemans/Gollin/Fassler)

but for sure the strongest line up is of the #50 AF Corse : Bruni/Vilander/Salo/Melo a stellar squad of 4 factory drivers

In 2007, the other 3 did most of the driving, which led to the strong result IMHO.

Looks like I was right with the nr 5 car comprising of mostly Germans

As was just pointed out, J-DD is definitely slow in comparison to his 3 teammates and the drivers in #1, probably around or a little faster than the pace of Ramos in Vitaphone #2. If he keeps out of the car, I think they have a great shot at the repeat. Definitely a pair of very strong lineups though. SRT fields a reasonably strong lineup with Bouchut/Maassen/Pillon/Soulet. Gigawave's team is strong too. The disappointment for me is JetAlliance - I wish they'd put together an all-pro car, though Muller is fast and Sharp is ok, so maybe if Lichtner-Hoyer can reprise his Oschersleben form they'll be alright.

In GT2, you are right about the strength of AF Corse's #50 car. They have the entire 2008 LM-winning squad joined by Toni Vilander, who is a seriously quick chap. #51 does not give up much though - Russo has been nearly as quick as the AF boys in the AE car and Dominik Farnbacher has compared very favourably to Muller in the Tafel ALMS car. Beyond that, the contenders in GT2 surely bring strong lineups as well - CR Scuderia in particular fielding great drivers (Kirkaldy/Bell/Muller plus Mullen and Piccini in the 2nd string car) and the Porsche brigade still coming loaded for bear. #50 can't be handed the win in this one before the off...

Well Muller and Sharp really aint that bad. The only weak link on the Jetalliance is Lichtner-Hoyer. But hey he is the team owner, cant force him out of the car. Phoenix got with both cars the best shot at winning I think.

Too much FIA-GT and ADAC GT Masters weekends this year, so no Le Mans.

@dxk1
The Murciélago is ready for Spa. Wait two or three days and you will see...
