Weight reduction? Even 800kg would definitely increase fuel saved as well as tire usage.

I think that was debunked already then, but there was the 5(.5)L limit mentioned in couple of places, but appears it's for private teams... not sure why they need it?

850 kg for hybrids and 830 kg for non-hybrids.

Also coupe mandatory for LMP1, but with a lot of changes to improve visibility (higher driving position, closer to the center of the car, higher roof, ...).

Especially if teams are bringing back pre-2011 engines, this whole period of 2011-2013 regs start to seem so unnecessary.

If you want to look at the bright side of it: They seem to learn from their mistakes.

They had a longer lull before. And the picture we have so far seems strangely incomplete.

That means exactly the same as the Audi R8C and Toyota GT-One. Back to the future then.

Sounds promising.

All the doom & gloom about how the evil FIA will kill sports car racing with their engine rules and "it's 1992 all over again" was premature as expected

not so much, as the system will be based on the flow of fuel PER LAP. So you can built a 6 liter V12 with twin turbos and 900 BHP, but it has to be able to complete a lap with the given a mount of petrol. Factory teams get less petrol to work with than privateers. (for which LMP1 was not meant in the first place, but that is another matter)

AS a side note, diesel will be allowed for LMP2 in 2013...

It will be doom and gloom again in a few years' time, because this sounds a tiny bit like "1982 all over again".
